was poking around looking for something else and saw this:
https://albuquerque.craigslist.org/mcy/d/san-rafael-1979-vespa-p200e-2300-obo/7679001250.html I thought that represented a decent DoD. solid bike with some nice stuff on it that's tagged, titled and running that wasn't an arm or a leg.

Same bike as this one I posted in August, after I fixed a couple dozen things in exchange for the owner going down to pick up my Indo Super frame in Portland for me. It runs great now and I see that he's bumped the price to reflect the improvements. A missing key was one of the things I fixed and I wired that junk to the key so he couldn't lose it so easy. So relax, nothing sketchy going on here. This one costs some coin. But if it is as OG as the owner implies it's getting close to a good value buy.... especially for one of the lowest production scoots ever made. (assumes it has title)

^^^ Just WOW! That is a beauty, looks almost new so many places. I noticed further down in the 'Scooter Community marketplace' a 1974 Rally that is NOT original, but very nicely restored listed for nearly twice($9500) what this one is, so I think the $5500 price here really does seem to qualify as DOD candidate, high end department.
![]() Meanwhile, I noticed that both mudguard and cowls have familiar black bottom edges, HMMMM? I found remnants of the same thing but painted on my 125 Super after I removed the yellow paint. I now see these are likely plastic molding, so likely not stock as I first imagined. ![]() Here you can see I 'restored' them both places if you look carefully. |

no, not stock on the "trim moulding"
Rally 180 is crazy low production numbers. last of the script badges, and you could get injection on a US market bike. rally 200's are fairly common, 180's not so much. |

Original paint? Is there any particular thing that you see that makes you think it may not be? It can be so hard to tell, but this pic of the paint on the tail light makes me think it could likely be.

There was a pic of the front legshield that looked like it had some orange peel you wouldn't normally see from the factory. I thought maybe it was a spot where touch up was done? Lots of spots like voodoo pointed out that look 100% OG. I suppose the only way to know for sure would be to see it in person.
