There was a pic of the front legshield that looked like it had some orange peel you wouldn't normally see from the factory. I thought maybe it was a spot where touch up was done? Lots of spots like voodoo pointed out that look 100% OG. I suppose the only way to know for sure would be to see it in person.
The actual listing wouldn't open for me, but it looks like there's white under the red on the scuffs at the front of the mudguard?

I'm with BN that you'd have to see it in person to say for sure.

I'm on the fence still, maybe mostly original but touched up some places long ago w/ the proper matching paint? A few more pics to help you decide for those w/ no access to judge by...

I think it had a little low speed down at one point. mudguard's been repainted for sure, and those badges don't look OG.

headset paint looks like it's got metal flake in it... sus. same as the shield paint it's got a bunch of junk in it.

so there's some OG paint there for sure, and the rest is probably crash damage repair.

ETA: hold the phone... is that a super front fender?!??

Asked the seller on the advert about the orange peel around the Rally emblem. Will see what and if he replies.

badges are OG, look again. fender looks correct with correct reflectors (replacement would not have the reflectors).

The trim on the bottom of the fender and cowls needs to go and is very distracting. I have half a mind to trade my Rally 200 out for this 180. Looks to me like the paint is mostly OG with some small areas of touchup.

Ooph. That's a very tasty 200 you have. But yeah, any clean and well sorted Rally 180 is a siren.

I think the fender's correct for a Rally 180. Super's is more angular.

There's lots touch ups visible in the photos (no way the orange peel on the leg shield came from the factory) but looks mostly original.

Rally 180 is a nice scoot. Friend of mine had beautiful original. Felt way lighter than a 200. Had some magical gearing that made it the smoothest pulling scoot I've ridden.

I have a nice Rally 180 engine (Thanks Terry!) humming in my GT160.

It eats hills like a fat kid eats pizza. Granted your top speed will be about 60 or 61 unless you put on a box exhaust, but all in all a great platform.

[EDIT - for folks not on FB Market Place- Owner said he didn't do touch up on leg shield and feels there isn't orange peel. ] *ahem*

the "rally" looks legit.

the "vespa" looks off to my eye. the e looks like it's canted up too much, and the - for the e looks too fat and short along with the - leading into the s being too short and the circles in the p & a look too small.

I'm going off mine here, unless my badge is repop?

I mean, might just be splitting hairs. or the angle of the dangle.

but I agree on mostly OG paint with some touchup.

auctions are typically nasty territory, depending on who's doing them. the fees alone will kill you. Here's some of what I've experienced on top of whatever the winning bid is
bid fee - secure discount 200 or 227.50
gate fee 79
delivery fee
virtual bid fee 49
buyer omit fee 10
title fee 20
sales tax
transfer fees, etc

goes without saying too that something will look like a deal when the auction price is under a hundred bucks but that'll rapidly change over time

I've had more than enough experience with buying auction vehicles (truck, car, moto) from copart, and i completely agree 100% with all you said. I will add that they also add another fee for out of state vehicle trip permit fee. As far as i'm concerned, and from many first hand experiences, copart is a sleaze bag of corrupt scammer. Like i can't even say enough bad things about them. The second i dropped my membership with them, the second i felt an instant relief.

Big agree. The alternative is to work with Brokers who will... charge a broker fee, so effectively paying a middleman to bid for you.

plus add on the jackassery of mirrors into the headset directly

nothing noted on title status or back fees

I *think* the mirrors are mounted to where the hi/lo indicator and running lamp would be? maybe?

guaranteed the title is missing and back fees.

looks like the floor is cut.

but the motor might have some magic. so, even as parts 1K is good to me.

I say that because in running titled shape, that's $2500 max.

But since it's not running and not titled that means *0.5*0.5 per the greasy formula = $625 value. if titled and no back fees, the price is in the zone.

those are not bolted below, they are into the headset, and look like shit.

in fact, I want to go up to that bike and smack those so they crack right out of the headset. It's irrational, but then again so is the idea of mounting them like that.

lolz.

script badge/pre 73 bike +500

it's not running, but it's also not in pieces.

so 2500, not running kicks it down to 1250, no title is minus 300, so close enough to a smooth G. add in the cachet of script badge and glove box.

if it's not rotten or bent, and doesn't have a billion dollars in back fees I think 8~1 is a pretty fair price coming and going.

it's a DoD if, and only if, you have smallie experience though and you're not trying to build a creampuff or start a resto.
