counter point: that rack rules because it's period correct and you never see them. although I think that one's bent.

but agree, a little high on the price, but not BAT crackpipe levels.

+100

I have visions of cases possibly ported with a Swiss Army knife. At the price point it needs to be stock with provenance. Otherwise, keep on walking.

This is a really good point!

But I'm 100% on board with your position; for that money I'd want something in fantastic OG condition.

Although, full disclosure, I couldn't ever see myself in a position to spend that kind of paper on a scooter.

I'm just asking and ad DOES say it is. I was a bit skeptical based on the clues, maybe it's mostly original because it does look original or respray that's aged well in most of the pics. The Rally stripes all look so nice, almost too perfect to be original though they could be. But all those white scratches around the motor...

Hey, No offense given. When I heard about it thru another scooter guy, I thought "what a lucky guy"! But he had to put the work in and pay the dollars to pull it off, so good for him.

engine's still there, you can just make out the crusty exhaust at the edge of the floorboard.

I'd go 500 all day on that, even with the drive to the 909

but it's still a roll of the dice that you're just buying parts.

Here's a good deal on an ET4 150cc you could probably fix, hopefully without too much trouble or money. Ran OK until new battery recently installed, now won't start Owner pissed, wants it gone.

Those ET4's had pretty much the same top speed as a P200? I think the 2003 models still had a carb and no immobilizer. I've been kinda keeping my eyes out for a donor engine for my beat up non-op NSU Prima 3. $600 for the scooter?...to bad i just spent $675 at the DMV this afternoon. Looks like my NSU project will stay mothballed for a bit longer. Oh well, i'd rather have a shifty 2 stroke engine swap instead of a 4 stroke auto.

pretty much same top speed.

all the ET4's are with immobilizer, as are LX150's. the only one that's not is the LX-S from 08 & 9, and those are carb models. in 10 they went to injection

but keep an eyeball out... they're decent motors and with a 190 kit they'll straight boogie. try and get the most complete bike you can-- even if it's wrecked, and keys, any keys at all, and you should be good.

Leader 150 ET4. Bulletproof engine on a nice all-rounder scooter. Had one years ago with a Piaggio 200cc top end, as the one found on the Liberty of the same era. There are times that I regret selling it…

Needs the clear turn signals as the ones we had over here…

Our LX with a 190 and upgear has hit 81mph (GPS). Great city bike and no slouch on the freeway. There are places that I would not want to park the Rally or GS that I feel perfectly fine taking the LX.

regarding the suspected respray on this bike, my Rally shows the same "white" look where the primer is showing through the original paint.
V oodoo wrote:
I saw that and I'm not sure where it should fall on the pricing spectrum. The pic you posted shows it off best...

But a couple of issues to consider:

1 The body is damaged a few places as noted by seller.

2 The engine is highly modified, could be good OR bad.

3 Was it originally white as suggested in the pic above? Seller has a can of matching paint suggesting it was repainted.

4 Given all that, it is considerably overpriced IMO. There have been better Rallys posted recently for less.

Terry, that's an LML T5ish, not a real one. So, it's a typical 150cc PX engine. A friend checked it out about two weeks ago, it's too far for me. Not many T5s come around anymore and if they do, they go immediately…

RATS! I did notice it was the LML version but did not know that they lack the genuine 125cc T5 heart Crying or Very sad emoticon. Still, for 650 if the rest of the body is as good as what's showing and if you had a good P200 motor just laying around doing nothing... Do these have the special deluxe version of the T5 speedometer?

I'm wondering if this is a real P200. The horn cast is different from my other P200s and this is supposed to be a 1986 and Vespas weren't being imported then. Any comments?

gray market bike that someone got into the US. Reaction at rallies of the day would have been, "OMG a PX! How'd you get it..." Based on the exhaust it is a 200 not a 150.

I'm wondering if this is a real P200. The horn cast is different from my other P200s and this is supposed to be a 1986 and Vespas weren't being imported then. Any comments?

yes. It's a 1986 PX200 (150 probably) Arcobaleno. Non disk, but set up with a centering front brake cam. Vespa's were still being imported and sold in the US market up to 1986. . .though very limited after 1982. I owned a 1986 US Market PX150 Arcobaleno a few years ago. To be 100%, look/ask for pics of the speedo and selector box. This bike would have came with a neutral light-only to be used on US market bikes.

Vespa of America sold scooters in the US until 1986.They brought in 100 sports, p125 and 200's untill 1984, then brought in pk50 automaticas and px150s in 1986, then folded.

^^^ I think some how, some where, that would be someone's dream scoot. If it was around here, I would think there would be a clown riding it. Razz emoticon
