Happy to be an enabler and live vicariously!

Hope you get it.

(Not gonna lie... I didn't factor in the 150.00 in shipping charges bc you had to make 10 mercato orders... So, don't trust my math.)

Also... that super is gorgeous. Is that OG paint?

No, I picked it up from a guy that took it completely apart and rattle can painted it, then lost interested. I basically reassembled with new parts where needed and cut a third port in the engine joined with a generic three port Scooter Mercato top end, econo exhaust and a 20/20 carb. He wanted $3500 about 6 months ago and now has it 2k. I know what's in it because I built it, but it was about 10 years ago. I need to put eyes on it again and he is going to get back to me when he is back in town. This was the second Vespa I had owned and very happy with the outcome of the project. I sold it and a '77 Rally years later when my wife had her first of many scares with cancer. It's crazy - I get a Vespa project and she becomes a cancer magnet. But she goes every 3 to 4 months now to get checked out and has been cancer free going on three years now. *knocks on wood*. So maybe we are past all that and I can get back to riding instead of just wrenching on other peoples scoots.

We don't have a monopoly on the vintage scooter world, though it does seem that way sometimes.

It was only up for 8 minutes when I messaged, still third place. Wha? emoticon I was also willing to leave immediately, but he wanted to wait until Saturday. It's alright, I coming up for back surgery soon enough and it would have collected dust for a while. Still interested in my old Super and that scoot probably needs nothing at all as I don't think the guy put many miles on it.

The exception to most Bring a Trailer Vespa listings:

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1980-vespa-p200e-5/

currently at $1800 with 18hr to go.

That rear rack is a California Scooter Accessories (CSA) rack. not as well known as the bbq racks but way stronger. I tracked one down for my Rally.

Down side: seems to still have the 20/20 carb and carb box that was needed to pass the CA emissions.

BAT resets the clock to 2:00 after each bid. It's the best feature they have.

I like the 2 minute reset after a new high bid but they should also require each new high bid to be a minimum percentage above the previous high bid.

I hear you Greasy.

Believe me, I didn't give up quickly. I saw the ad Wednesday a couple hours after it was listed. I did try to find space at home and abroad. I have a similar condition yellow 74 Super sitting in the laundry room because the garage is full and, unfortunately, my wife isn't color blind.

Sincerely hope someone here can nab it before it's gone.

follow this simple process:

step one: go to Home Depot
step two: procure BBQ/Grill box from one that they assembled for display
step three: put the box over bike on patio
step four: say there's some parts missing or a recall and you're waiting on something
step five: take Dr. The Mrs to a nice seafood dinner.
step six: ????
step seven: feign disbelief when some time later the ruse is discovered
step eight: pay for Dr. The Mrs. spa day

you're welcome

It's only a couple hundred miles north of me, but if i bought it then i'd also have to find another P200 engine and a hydro disc brake to swap in. Besides, i have other scooters that are lined up in the queue that are waiting for some of my love.

It doesn't need a 200 engine, there are so many good kits for the smaller engines that will smoke a 200.

Agreed, but a kitted small block would lack the long term reliable that a 200 offers. I can hold my highway munching P200 at 65~70mph+ indefinitely without any concerns. It has just enough HP to get the job done, yet not too much so that it starts breaking parts at an accelerated rate.

I tend to agree with you there. The 200 can do higher speeds as a de-tuned factory build, while a small block runs closer to its limits to achieve the same performance. Not that fast small blocks can't be reliable. But it takes more work, better quality parts and know how to make it happen.
