Edit: Speaking of, did you see the Vjatka on scoot.net. Those are freaking cool, soviet copies of Vespas. I would love to see one up close.

I contacted the dude yesterday and they're not there today. He didn't get back to me... There's another smallframe perenially on Reading, PA CL (very close to where Professor Plum got his Blue Badge) for $550. Mind you, 50cc is well short of 125. Then again, you could buy a few Pollini kits and trick cranks for the difference between $500 and $2000. ...and it seems to have dropped off the list now that I'm looking for it. Fifty buck Silver Pigeon and I doubt it fetches more than that. I've been wrong before, though!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Vintage-1950s-Silver-Pigeon-Scooter-/140546395147?pt=Scooters_Mopeds&hash=item20b937cc0b This is the kind of thing I'd be interesed in. Straight bodywork but everything under the bodywork looks like it's been soaked in a swamp. Anyone have a Rabbit, a Pigeon, a Prima or even an old Lambretta in this condition? I'd be interested! I had a 5 Star that would have worked nicely for what I have in mind. Mint bodywork, the previous owner was going to restore it. He dismantled the motor on the work bench then the workshop burned down around it. I ended up with a motorless Prima. ![]() |

Did that VS1 actually sell for 4k GBP? My reading of the eBay listing was that the seller ended the listing early because he sold it, i.e., outside of eBay. I think I remember reading that eBay Motors allows listings to be pulled in case of a local sale but maybe I'm wrong. If that is what happened, 4,000 GBP was just the last bid on eBay, not the selling price.

1959 Allstate Auction in Brookville, Ohio, May 28th
So this was a fun one to figure out. Pick up (cheap) for parts? Note, I don't see the fuel lever under the seat. Perhaps their tap pin broke then they parked the scoot in the barn for the next 40 years... If anyone goes, I'd love to hear about it... They also got a sweet old Triumph, but you'd have to lose the ape hanger bars and convert to cafe!
Note the auction for the Vespa is written as "OLD SEARS & ROEBUCK MADE IN ITALY VESPA-TYPE SCOOTER MODEL #788.99493" but that number doesn't exist. It must be a typo for 788.94493 which makes it a 1958-9 Allstate Reference: http://www.scooterlounge.com/Vespa/Tech/ref/vin_allstate.shtml The auction for the bike: http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/auctionview.cgi?lid=1139050&kwd=vespa&zip=&category=0 the scoot: http://www.auctionzip.com/Full-Image/1139050/fp51.cgi The underseat badge: http://www.auctionzip.com/Full-Image/1139050/fp52.cgi |

I'd ask $3500 if I were selling that bike. You never know at auction. You might be up against some dreamer who watches "American Pickers" all day every day. They might pay $3500, try to sell it at $5500. Maybe out in Caliphonia... jimmyb865 wrote: holy toledo that top pic of your room is h i l a r i o u s I wish it contained more Vespas...
