scooter libby wrote: Rare and undesirable is a good way of putting it. I too think that was once a white Automatica that has been painted green. I believe Automaticas were only sold in Europe, but some made it over here in the 1990s when crateloads of old scooters were shipped after European laws cracked down on two strokes. Automaticas are slow and hard to get parts for. But if you really want that bike, and aren't scared of putting it back together, Kyle of Kyle's Scooter Shop in Dallas has two Automaticas --- one of which has a running engine I believe. I'd go $500 on that bike --- and that's if you really want it. |

Cool bike! Love the mickey mouse tail light. At $1300 it wouldn't be a bad deal, but the reserve is higher apparently.

Now there is a bike I'd pay $1500 for without a title. Would need to see better pics of the floorboard and underside though.

Came across a mostly original '77 Rally 200 - not that bad of a deal right now at $1035 with no reserve and less than a day to go on the auction.

He made a point it was Femsa when it was clearly not.
I'd value it at $2500. Be interesting to see what it goes for. North of that I'd guess |

^^^Agree on what it'll go for, it's a pretty decent survivor and remarkably similar to the '76 I got in March. Same color even & a little more complete. Disconnected Autolube though - UGHH! any other fiddling by PO?
This one came on the market shortly after I got mine, so I've been keeping an eye on it. It originally listed here for $3250 before going on the block at eBay. It obviously has a Ducati setup or something else other than stock(assuming no radical change from December '76(mine) to '77, as original would be mounted to the frame. I'm confused about the FEMSA reference, though. I reread all of his sales copy and found NO mention of FEMSA from him. maybe I missed it... In fact I found the seller remarkably forthcoming in his description and his inclusion of the sort of detail we usually have to ask about. Sure you weren't thinking of one of the other Rallys on scootnet? |

This is the ultimate Vespa cruiser, the last of the vintage style scoots before the plastic crept in 9starting with the horn cast). yes, technically there is a 1978 model, but it is a transition model, most with the P engine. Not bad, just not all-Rally.
The transition model he refers to, with the p200 style engine, appears to be what he has. The "all Rally" engine would have a 6 bolt/6 volt flywheel and stator with Femsa ignition. His seems to have the later rivited, 12 volt flywheel/ stator with ducati cdi. Not a big deal really. He just seems to be confused about what he has. |

True, he's not sure of everything, even says " I will update this if I find anything else that is not original, but it is possible I will miss some item.", but he said nothing about FEMSA. That's all I was saying. I don't think he's trying to put something over here.
PO probably fried the FEMSAtronic & did the easy & common thing, put on a P flywheel, stator & CDI - maybe when he ripped out the autolube. But I disagree that it's not original Rally engine; his fly cover, cylinder cover & kickstart are EXACTLY like mine, but different from this- flywheel here's the same as his: ![]() You DO make a good point though, If I were bidding on this, I'd ask & make SURE what motor that is & if it's original to the scoot. 6V or 12V? We're both making assumptions. |

What do you think. I'm a hour and a half away? I called today and it's got some floor rust but it's engine has everything. I'm just wondering if the rotor pad is shot or is it just the top end? |

I'd be wary about that front fork. That fender took some serious impact.
Considering that the panels and forks are not that common, you'll have to plunk down some cash. But its still worth $500 unless the frame is garb. |
