I think this is a smoking deal and is Deal Of The Day worthy. Just because it's over a thousand dollars doesn't make it any less of a deal.
They have been listing that thing for over a month now, so it could probably be negotiated down from that price. I agree that often a $2000 scoot can be a good deal depending on condition. However, I don't think this one is particularly a good deal at $1700 - it is a Silver Pigeon which are not particularly valuable to begin with, and the engine has been replaced with a Honda which makes it less valuable from a collector point of view, although may make it more useful as a daily rider. I often see Silver Pigeon scooters in running condition go for around $450 - $800.
All I know is that there is one on scoot.net for $2600. I coulnd't find any others on craigslist. I don't know much about the less common scooters, but do you really see them that often. I would think that they would be quite a bit less common than many other scooters. Mitsubishi, Fuji, Jawa, Zundapp, and Maico are all lumped together in my mind as rarer and older. I wouldn't want one myself, but if you had an itch for a Mitsubishi you might not have a lot of choices.

Your right; I'm sure you could get it for less. It does come with the original motor and the paint looks very nice in the pictures; if it is as nice in person a good paint job cost as much as the asking price.

I scour the internet daily for scooters and my main source for searching craigslist is using http://www.crazedlist.org but you have to use Firefox to use the site because you have to go into your computer and change a value. It's pretty simple to use and searches as many cities as you want at once. This can mess up your computer so please be careful. I also search farm auctions. I've found allot of great scoots doing this. I also tend to search VW sites since it seems allot of VW owners end up with old Vespas. Or you can just check my blog from time to time!
Where do you go for farm auctions? I have looked briefly at some of the local storage unit auctions, but never really saw anything interesting listed. Since they are held during the day, it makes it hard for me to get there. I might try your search site when I get home since I don't want to trash my work computer.
I use auctionzip constantly to find great deals. I'll drive 1,000 miles for the right scooter but I usually stay away if there's classic cars there because those guys always have tons of money and like to buy scooters also. During the auction season there's probably 2 to 6 a month listed here http://www.auctionzip.com I've picked up a 1981 bajaj, a sport 100, a super, and got a lead to a Rally 200 that I got the same day for $100 I never paid more than $500 for any of those scooters. Check it out this spring and summer and you'll see what I mean.

It's possible that he added the turn signals when painting/rebuilding. His state may require turn signals on an 86 in order to register, so maybe he added them?

or, it could be a scam...

Probably the opposite. I bet it started out in green and then they took off the lights and painted it blue. I don't know about other states, but in Texas you don't need to have turn signals to register a cycle.

Oh geez...maybe you're right. I assumed that the nice green paint was the new paint job and that the ugly blue paint was the one that needed fixing. If so, what a mistake

pink... I dunno...

But... I bet you could get a couple hundy for the ss90 exhaust if it's not a repop. Makes the deal a little more interesting anyway.

Don't see too many of these in the USA, especially in this condition. A true Euro-Market PX125E (not a P125X). If this bike looks as good as it appears, I believe this is a great deal:

Well, it did say OBO. I agree that it is a bit much, but without pics it is hard to tell. If you really want a pink smallframe, then that price might seem pretty good. I don't really want one so it seems like a bit much. I think that the market for small pink scooters may not overlap much with the black cut-down crowd.

A MKI and a MKII to boot! Not bad even if just for parts since some are hard to find.

Those are the best ads! I responded to one like that a year or 2 ago but it was for an allstate and the guy had a Ducati Brio, a Sprint, a Super, and 4 of those Sears Daimler Puch Allstate scooters.
