a little sceptical about the "Mods" (always wonder what got broke by fixing) but, some good parts in there. a decent price for a little bit of fixing

It most likely broke trying to pull him and his 220# frame 75+ mph.

this bike was a great deal:

http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/mcy/4170141549.html

sold for $400, not to me though.

i texted him, he was asking $500 or best offer. i told him i was on the way, and when i got there he didnt answer his phone. the next day he said it was sold and that he told me two others were coming, which (of course) he never did. his story changed from (before the sale) that he got it from his neighbor to (after the sale), he got it at a scrap yard, so who knows.

i sent him a link to the scooterlounge buyers guide and make him start kicking himself for selling it for so low after screwing me over.

whatever.

I laugh at people who actually use that scooterlounge to base a price.

But in this case, I like it because it makes the turd realize he's a douche.

Unfortunately not all scooters have pics, but the Rally sounds interesting at 3k and 'original paint' still.

The Newer Vespa from New Jersey is questionable, mostly because there are a LOT of vehicles in NJ with salvage titles due to the storm they had in 2012. Some may just be wet, needed to dry out, and are fine, while others could have been submerged.

If the engine was filled with water (mmmm, salty water!), it won't last long even if it runs right now.

mmhm. my thoughts exactly, but i figured i'd post it because if it was ok, it registers in my mind as a 'deal'. none of the damage on the body seems severe enough to have totalled the bike so i'd ask the seller for some of the salvage auction info. more than likely, the auction costs were around 400. who knows though, maybe the fender was messed up and they had to swap it out.

elizabeths a shady town though, as a side note.

That's Frank in Elmhurst, he does a lot of two stroke repair work and always has several scooters for sale. He's a pretty straight up guy. I bought the P200 from him, and he rebuilt the Stella motor for the GF.

If I could justify the spend, and our house in NC had a garage, and I had spare cash and and and, I would be keen to look at that rally in elmhurst. Not sure I could justify to wife or myself. That's not true. I could justify it to myself, I could justify almost anything to myself!

I know it well and have seen it in person. First, the restoration done to it is fantastic. The guy who did it is a local DC legend kind of. I bought my GL from him and he's a real straight shooter...the paint is fantastic. The entire restoration was really really good. I think the guy who is selling it paid around $5k for it. The guy who did the restoration does this shit on the side in the winter. He runs a small engine repair business and mainly has accounts with landscaping companies in DC, in the winter work dries up and he'll restore a scooter or two.

So dude buys this scooter and doesn't know shit about how to ride and shreds the cruciform. Also, he wrecked the fender a bit so it's dinged up from what I have heard but I haven't seen it in person. It's a shame really cause I mean it's a sweet scoot. Anyhow, now he's asking and has been asking what everyone thinks is too much for a scoot that will need a total motor rebuild and has a dinged up fender. I know some people have talked about different number they've offered him which seemed fair to me but dude doesn't seem to be coming off of his $3k plus asking price. It's really been the laughing stock of the community around here honestly.

that's a shame. A Rally should be driven and enjoyed and not screwed up. Why the full engine rebuild do you think? If it was done OK and just needs a split and cruciform replacement, or do you think there is worse than that damaged inside?

thanks

I won a BBQ rack on ebay a week ago for $ 82.00. Not a scratch on It.
Backrest in perfect shape. It was listed as Vespa rack not BBQ rack so,
it went unnoticed. It may be to nice to put on my scooter.

Good seeing at Bar swap meet last week Vader.
