so i have a 2 yr old vespa gts250ie. i hadnt ridden it in a few weeks, then rode it downtown for about 8 minutes, then let it sit for about 5 hours. got back on it and it started ok, not great, but ok i noticed. there were two cars in front of me so i shut it off and waited, stupidly with the lights on, then started it again, it stayed on momentarily then shut off. then when i tried to start it it acted like the battery was getting less powerful and less powerful and kept making the lights really low while trying to turn over.

what should i do? i kept it over night in a friends garage, and now i am wondering what to do....??? it acted like it wanted to turn over but wouldnt after a few tries and then kept getting worse. so i quit trying to make it so it did not get worse.

tips...tricks??

remove the battery and charge it over-night.

You don't need to remove the battery to charge it. Just charge it up and it should be fine. If the problem persists, it may be time for a new battery but in all likelihood, you just let the battery run down between rides and turning it off at the light didn't help. Starting the engine drains the battery so probably not a great idea to stop the engine and start again at lights if you haven't been riding in a while.

you can charge up the battery by driving around, but if the scooter isn't starting, then a trickle charger is your best bet.

Get your self a charger.
Charge it as slow as posible.
Don't let the voltage got over 15.5
A battery tender may be a good idea if you have no charger.
A battery tender is just a small charger and you could kill two birds with one stone.
Have the battery tested.
There have been people here with charging system problems with that bike. Voltage regulator failure I think.
Good luck Chris

and el-cheapo battery charger with a 'motorcycle' setting will do the trick - don't need to remover the battery - give it a full charge twice a year and you'll be fine - trickle chargers are good if you have a gargage or off street parking.
