In a recent thread, somebody mentioned having a center stand lock as part of a "wish list". I think the idea is brilliant. I'm just wondering if there is such a thing?

Maybe have a little swing arm under the floor pan that catches the stand, and operated by a key lock?

I would buy one in a heartbeat. It would make the scooter very hard to move or steal. Anybody ever made one of their own?

I believe that the Honda Metropolitan has a centre stand lock. On the Vespa GTS models you could use an adjustable locking cable to tie the left side of the centre stand (through the loop in the stand) to the steel locking loop on the left side of the floorpan. In years past, I saw an adjustable cable lock with a built-in alarm, somewhere.

Cheers and good luck,
Bob

Center stand lock
This would be something special to have to save
our scooters from being taken alright. You
mentioned the body loop under the floor boards,
would there be a small steel locking devise out there? 8)

Lock
I had a green Honda Metropolitan for my first scooter. Inside the underseat storage there is a latch that you can flip to lock the kickstand so nobody can move your scoot. Great idea. Could you get in the USA a side stand for the GTS like the European one that is wired to shut the bike off if you forget to put it up or is it that you can't start the bike unless it's up.

my MP3 has a parking brake, which locks in position when the key is turned just so (to "lock" instead of "off").

I use a python lock for my front wheel. No complaints. The cable is even plastic coated so it won't scratch.

I was the OP of that and I'm impressed you remembered it (Features I wish my GTV had...) and it was based on features that my Honda Metro and Yamaha Vino have that the GTV doesn't. I consider the center stand lock an innovative feature and challenging mods to figure out over the coming year. The Metro was so simple - flip a lever under the seat and you're done. Check out the OP to see the other challenging mods I'll be thinking about. Another feature that should be added to the list is a gas tank that doesn't overflow when you fill up!!
Thx.

I know this is resurrecting a zombie thread, but have any of the modern Vespas come out with a feature like this?

I haven't seen one and its news to me that Honda has(d) it on their Metropolitan.

Here's why they're not popular, do you want to get on the ground in the rain and unlock your center stand?

It wasn't accessed from under the scooter, however it's lever was under the seat, iirc.

Also, not saying they'd be a good nor bad idea.

Lock
I don't often need to lock the centerstand but when riding the ferry from Port Angles to Victoria, one needs to lock the centerstand as this ferry moves around a lot if the wind has been blowing for awhile. I simply use an REI strap with the metal buckle like the Coghlan's Arno Straps. I loop from the centerstand thru the lock loop and back. Quick and effective. This keeps the scooter from off the the stand.

Forgot to mention, I also use a small metal buckle strap to clamp the front brake on. This keeps the scoot from wanting to move forward. Also handy when parking on the downhill if you have to.

It does and the lock is under the locking seat.

I don't think it feasible for a GTS.

Just my opinion.

If the lock is operated under the seat then it wouldn't offer much security as the seat can be opened without a key.

IIRC, the Metropoliran seat does lock.

Sorry, I meant it isn't difficult to open the seats of scooters even without a key. If opening the seat then allows you to put away the centre stand then it's not offering much protection. If there's the possibility of having a padlock under the saddle to keep the centre stand in place then that's entirely different.
