So you get stuck in some rain do you take the rain cover off your seat when you ride home or do you just sit on it for the ride? I'm totally new to all this and have a feeling my 1st rain ride is coming up on the way home today.

The rain covers aren't made to be sat on. They'd be slippery.
The GTS seat looks like leather but is actually not. No problem riding in the rain with it. cheers |

I've also got a GTV with the leather seat. I've ridden for over an hour with the cover on it in crappy weather, and it was just fine, no slipping at all. I keep it on most of the time during the winter, actually. Only issue is that it's already getting a bit thin. I'm going to guess it's got a stupid price tag to replace, being that it's an original Vespa part. I'll probably find out in a few months.

I guess I have not been so lucky, each time I have needed to ride home in the rain, the seat was not covered. I carry a microfiber rag the pocket of my jacket for wiping my helmet visor. I wipe off the seat and have a seat.
It's not like it's going to matter much. I don't have waterproof pants and I have a 30 minute ride home. I am going to get 100% soaked from the waist down so I am not too worried about keeping the part of the seat under my butt dry. |

I never use the seat cover when it may rain--the vinyl seat is waterproof.
I use the cover on sunny days to keep the sun from fading and drying the vinyl seat, and protect from birdshit. On days when it might rain, I don't use the seat cover because I don't want to put a wet seat cover back in a hole where it will stay wet forever. P. |

I have a custom leather seat from Pirate and if it's raining, I frequently ride with the rain cover on that Jay supplied. My cover is not slippery at all. I guess it all depends upon what material your rain cover is made of. Seat covers are pretty cheap to make!

Why are you all so damn scared of getting your leather seats wet? treat it well & it will last for a loong time, just like your skin. My leather seat gets wet daily in the winter & spring & it still looks great.

I got caught in the rain the other day. I stopped. Opened my seat and pulled out the plastic cover from its little cubby-hole. I put it over my head and rode the rest of the way home. Piaggio had their thinkin' caps on when they came up with that one.

I keep a very sturdy rag (I got it from the custodial staff at my school) in the seat so when I take the wet cover off I can give it a quick wipe to dry it off.
I just tuck the wet cover back in to it's cubby hole. Doesn't bother me much that it's wet, since I'll probably pull it out again when I get home... |
