gregt wrote: I just tell them I love them to get what I want from them..... There are some lovely replies here. And some beautiful scooters. I'd have to say I love my scooter. I even named it, and am always on the lookout for scooter bling. It's not a Vespa, but in order for me to feel I deserve to own a Vespa, I need to appreciate this one, deeply. I'd rather ride it than drive the car, most of the time. I have a million pictures of it. It's very well maintained, and usually one of the last things I think about before bedtime, and one of the first things I think of when I wake up. I live in an area that isn't two wheel friendly, as most Americans do. I'm kind of obsessed about doing what I can to make my town more of a scooter city, because it's setup is pretty decent for scooters. We started a scooter club, play scooter tag, scooter trivia, and most of our friends ride or want scooters. I guess I'm in love with Scooterism. |

I love the luminous colour of my Dragon red GTS 250,
It really stands out on the highway. Never really liked red in the past, But now I really love my scooter. The wobble has almost completely gone with the new Pirelli GTS 23 front tire, Once I get the new Jettin 15 oz barends, I'm sure the wobble will be completely gone. I love riding it even more now, Now all I need to get is a 12v power outlet for it. The Jettin bushings for the rear shocks would be nice too, But shipping to Canada is too expensive. Besides the labour involved to install them is like $95. an hour by a mechanic, Might get them sent to some U.S. friends though and then get them installed with my next roller change. |

Yes. Yes I do.
I know if something happened to it, and I had to scrap it, I could get another P200... but it wouldn't be that one. ![]() One a related note, I loved my first car too. Unfortunately, I totaled it. I still think about that car... the one that got away... In my opinion, if you put a lot of good energy into something - inanimate object or not - you create a connection with it. I also love my acoustic guitar... lots of intense energy in that thing. |

I think love may be a little strong, but I am glad my wife has never said it is me or the Vespa.

I definately love my scooter! I can probably say I've loved 3 out of the 5 scoots I've had.
The first, the little Razz (I called Blueberry) got me hooked. I don't know how such a tiny slow machine did so, but I was introduced to the scootering culture by managing to keep up with a few milder rallies, and it was all over at that point. I didn't have my second scooter (Scarabeo 150 -Big Red) long enough to get attached to it, as it was too tall for me to handle safely. Next was Isis, my kitted-to-hell Scarabeo 50. She fleeewwwww.... got me halfway across the country safely, had tons of crazy adventures. Extremely hard to let go of that bike. After a bad crash, I ended up with Old Gray, an ancient Riva 180. Poor thing was never properly cared for, but she was fairly reliable, all things considered. Spent a few years with no scoot, and now finally have Clarice the GTV. The end of years of lusting after a Vespa 250. Can't wait for more adventures ahead. I think sometimes my boyfriend is jealous of the Vespa. |

That makes more sense to me than loving the scooter in the sense of personalizing it, hugging and kissing it! (Metal has rather a cold, metallic taste, no?) I think I may have a more complicated and deeper sense of what the word "love" means to me then what I've seen expressed a few times here... I haven't fallen for the Hollywood idea of "love" since being a moon-eyed calf of maybe 40-ish or so! 8) (But it WAS fun then!) ![]() And the callous overuse of "love" in our advertising media, applying the word to all kinds of ridiculous objects, celebrity worship, beverages and food, mechanical and materialistic fetishes, never fails to amaze and uncomfortably disappoint me! ![]() |

i have wanted one since i was a little kid, and now i own one and kinda toy with it. so it is a dream that i have achieved from my childhood. i guess the best way i could put it is that the vespa is my expression of the child in me

This thread is too gay for words, way too emo.
Ride it, rip the arse out of it... Oh wait, that sounds just as wrong... |

OK, OK... I don't love my scooter, I'm just very, very fond of it
It totally saved me during several perilous adventures And I will probably shed a tear or two when I inevitably part with it ![]() |

I wake up in a pool of gas and 2-stroke each morning *giggety?* But seriously, I am QUITE attached to my scooters. I've had a solid passion for all the vehicles I have owned so far, and the scoots take the cake. I'm really not sure I would say I "love" them... I mean, I often DO say that I love them, but I think I always use it more in the "I love my friends" kind of way than the "I love my girlfriend and my mother" kind of way... my scooters are very trusty companions on the road... working on them is an absolute pleasure and they never cease to please or surprise me when I rip through a hard turn or dodge an obstacle I would have had to hit on a larger vehicle. The thing is, she is hitting 25,000 miles on the clock soon. =( I recently received a Honda Pantheon in non-working condition but aesthetically sound! So all I need to do is do her up mechanically then I'll have a scooter to do my work horse stuff on. I want to keep Esme for as long as I can, as I have spent SO much money on her. I think Modern Vespa has to blame for showing me the world of scootering in a whole different perspective. But I can truely say that I love my scooter. ![]() Fay |

You know how you can tell if you are in love with your scooter? When you're going down the road and all of a sudden you burst into song. Me and Cara Mia were heading for the Tasty-Freeze the other evening for our usual treat, a single-dip cone, when I started singing 'Brand New Key' by Melanie.
...don't go too fast, but I go pretty far. |

I'm attached to it in the same way that I am attached to my beat up old ronson lighter which I've carried in my pocket for the last 10 years or so. They are things...But I wouldn't want to be without them.

Yeah, I love my scooter. I've had it for 3.5 years and I look forward to riding it every time. The anticipation is like when you were in grade school and knew the afternoon bell was only hours away and then you'd be free. That kind of feeling. I feel guilty when I think about what my next scooter will be (a GTS 300 Super most likely) I don't want to trade in my 200, but I am curious to know if the 300 is as much of an improvement as people say. Ride Safe.

I have had over 20 types of motorcyles and scoots in the last 40 years or so, but this is a "Keeper".
I certainly have an affinity with it and speak to it sometimes. ![]() |
