After a recent spill which left my LX with a few scratches on the cowl (rear side panel). I went to get an estimate from a local shop.

They suggested that I remove the cowl for ease in handling, masking off, painting, etc. That idea seems to make sense, however the illustrations in the service manual don't really look like it's possible.

Is this a doable process?

Any help or advise is appreciated.

The cowl is part of the one piece frame. It can't be removed.
