You know i bet the new people don't know about karma. I just accidentally clicked on the posting guidelines and noticed it wasn't there. Shouldn't there be a blurb about it so people who are new will know about it?

Please....no. It might just generate more threads about Karma. On the other hand, Jess argues that making a topic sticky makes it invisible, so making it a sticky could be a good thing....

CAFE not a sticky but in the guidelines. Just a few sentences about what it is etc. Karma is now part of the rules and guidelines here and it's not in the guidelines. I'm not saying it will stop all the karma questions but it could help.

What's the traffic like on those sites? How many active users?

There are really only two possibilities: you're hanging out on small sites, or the user base is exceptionally well behaved.

The rating system works as an incentive and also works to discourage bad behavior. Dismissing it out of hand ignores the realities of managing a well-trafficked site. You may not see why it's necessary, but I do.

And that's what counts.

theyre uk sites mostly for uk based scooterists ... although we do get the odd johnny foreigner.............. so they are smallish sites .... but people do say what they like and its taken with a pinch .. we find it better that we just vent and leave it open than to cut it up or block users .... theres stuff on there thatd make your hair fall out or your comp stop working ... but people understand them an just get on with it .... if it offends say your bit .. its like free therapy

My .02. So what if YARDSALE posts pics nobody has to read them. Everyone does it. Nobody is talking about the person who regularly posts perverted pics that have nothing to do with the threads. If you have a beef with someone take it offline rather than bully them online so others can chime in. That's worse than grade school.
