So, doing a tiny bit of research, it seems i should really swap out the "default" spark plug in my 2008 Fly 150. Sounds like id get a smoother idle among other benefits.

Then it was on to the NGK vs. Denso and it seems the Denso is the way to go...well, at least for the Fly 150, but apparently you need some sort of "adapter" to actually make the Denso work/fit in the Fly 150.

My questions would be:

1.) can i find this Denso spark plug as well as the adapter at, say, Auto Zone? and if so, what exactly are the models i need to look for?

2.) what tools will i need to replace the spark plug? ive never done it before

thanks

There is no "adaptor" as such it's just this cap. You'll need a spark plug wrench. See here for more info: First time it died on me--in traffic

If you want the NGK it's a CR8EIB-10 for a direct fit, or you can get the CR8EIX plus the threaded cap shown above. I'm not sure on the Denso.

so it seems that aluminum cap is a cause of alot of problems, so id like to avoid that problem.

so should i just stick with the NGK without that cap?

It's not really a problem. You just need to have it. I don't know about the Denso plugs, we don't carry them. The NGK CR8EIB-10 is a direct fit with no modification. It might be a little difficult to find at a local store, but it doesn't hurt to call around.

You need that cap, so that your existing plug fits onto the spark plug.

To go without the cap, you need to change your plug.

Please go read my relevant thread about this issue, so you can make an educated decision.

The only advantage I have found with Iridiums, is that they last longer than OEM's but cost a lot more.

I have done several tests using the Champion and the NGK. No difference in top end, fuel economy, or acceleration.

Rumour has it that Iridium will last 3 to 1 over the OEM's.

i don't work on the vespa myself but you may have to adjust the gap in the spark plug. it requires a 2$ tool. here is a good video, but it is for cars, worth a look though.

The iridiums come pre-set and you would probably ruin them if you tried to change the gap.

Cool, My local parts store carries them, $5. just might have to check the sparkplug since I tipped the bike and got tons of gas in the airfilter, and since I'm down there might as well change it.
