Our 9 yr old loves riding with me on the MP3, so we thought she might enjoy having her own little scooter. Razor makes a cool little electric scoot called the Bistro. She's probably logged 20 hours on it in the last week.

Wow, you don't say. I did not know DMV regulations vary between States. Here in CA, I believe the minimum age requirement is 16 to operate any 2-wheels street legal scooters or even be a passenger for that matter.

Dan, just to clarify, this little scoot is not street legal. It's not even considered a moped. There's no lights, no mirrors, and top speed with a full battery charge is 15mph which is about the same as my mom's mobility scooter. Where we live, it's ok on the sidewalk. Our neighborhood is full of toys like these.
First mod was a cupholder for her juice box. Planning to add lights, mirrors, horn, etc.
Regarding riding with me, definitely we're in the clear there. I used to ride 2 up with my brother when I was a kid, and see lots of kids riding with adults. Just to be sure, I checked the AMA site which shows no passenger age restriction for Michigan.
Luthorhuss, she and I have matching gear. 8)

Cute scooter for the little one! The fastest Vespa I saw in a city was in Rome.....a beautiful young woman flying through the traffic. What a memory......

FYI...I checked ong ago...a mobility Chair's top speed is 5 mph.... My electric bicycle runs top speed 22 mph, but really it'll go about 15mph....

My Mom was very protective. My father let me have adventures. I love them both. Mom taught me caution. My father gave me confidence.
