Hello all! I have a problem with ET4 timing chain installation (Vespa ZAPM04, engine M041M) - due to that I don't have Haynes manual and can't find anywhere on the internet how to do it maybe someone here can help me out? I have found a lot of instructions for ET4 LEADER engine, but it's not the same as my Vespa's engine.

Thanks in advance!

from the Haynes manual for the pre-leader ET4: 'there is no means of adjustment of the ignition timing on these machines. if the ignition timing is incorrect, or suspected of being incorrect, one of the ignition system components is at fault.'

OK - but how to align the chain which I replaced? Are there mentioned some adjustment marks?

again from the Haynes manual ... remove the alternator cover and the cooling fan on the right hand side of the engine .. on all engines, there should be a timing mark on the rotor and static reference marks on the alternator cover. one indicates the timing at idle, the other the TDC position. on the ET4, the static timing mark is a little white triangle, and the mark on the rotor looks like an arrow.

that's all the information on timing that i was able to find in the Haynes manual.

Does Haynes manual have a picture of timing mark location, too? If so, maybe you can post it here. I'm asking it because I can't find the arrow on rotor...

here you go .....

the Haynes manual also advises that 'if no marks are obvious, remove the cover and use the sensor on the pulse generator coil as a marker.'

Thanks! Seems like this will help! Tomorrow I'll check everything out and try to install the chain correctly and then post the results
