Modern Vespa

Today is the MR2 Owners' Club NZ club run here in Christchurch NZ... and a great chance to meet up and talk about and drool over these wonderful cars. And my MR2 has a totally flat battery. Not even the interior lights are working, which is a first for me!

I must have been riding the little Vespa so much I forgot to do my maintenance drives on my MR2... and not realising it until today. The last drive I did was probably 3 weeks ago...?

A year or so ago a similar thing happened to me....

... rode my scooter so much the car sat for almost a month. When I went to use it it had 1 completely flat tire and 1 half flat one....

Yep, I last fueled up my Honda civic over a Month ago....poor thing is covered in dust.

I have no idea when I last fuel up the MR2... All I know is that my supermarket fuel discount coupons have all expired last month so it must have been about 2 months ago or longer, and she still have half a tank of fuel!

It's frustrating because I was really looking forward to today's club run

I have a 2003 MR2, and the same thing happened to me. I now keep a battery tender on it. Will get the battery checked. It's Sears Die Hard. Mr3's are FUN to drive, but my scooter has won out hands down!!

I drove to work today, using the dark cloudy skies as a "it might rain later in the day" excuse. I guess having to make a conscious effort to drive instead of ride means I currently prefer the Vespa over the MR2 as the mode of transport, but driving the MR2 after a break made me appreciate her even more. Swapping the little LXV50's 2-stroke buzzy engine sound for a low deep rumble, the leaning of a scooter at a turn for the neck-twisting, hardly-any-body-roll of the MR2, and the WOT riding for the "light step on accelerator if I want to keep my license" driving... it's quite a drastic change.
