Hey guys,
I really love my smallframe, but after riding it for a bit and then trying to start it up again it's almost impossible to get running unless I let it sit for quite a long time..Last time it took overnight to start up again. It normally starts up cold with choke out after two or three kicks no problem.
I rode it around for a few mins today, stopped it, parked it in my driveway, tried to kick it over again, and nothin. Sounds like it wants to start..Push starting didn't work either.
It's a v90 with a Polini 130 kit with a 19/19 carb.
I recently had some work done:
new fuel line, carb cleaned (main jet eighty eight), new points and condenser, new fly side oil seal, new HT ignition coil, and my timing was set at 16
Should I switch over to electronic ignition? for some reason I always worry about the timing and points, but i just had all this work done.
whadda think? I just wanna ride!

i like the idea that your bike is points and condenser
that is a bullet proof setup when all is right
i might look at my carb as flooding pisses mine off
my p is cranky after warmed up

Yea, thanks-I'm glad to hear you like the points set up..I would think it would start up just fine since I have new points/condenser..
It could be a carb issue..it started up again tonight, but then stalled..I started it right up and jumped on it.
.
dang smallframes!

Try turning the fuel off before killing it, or maybe about a block before killing it. If that seems to sort it out then it's flooding.
There use to be dellorto float needles that had a spring in them. Last I checked they were still available for the smallframe (firstkick had them). If you can find one they work a lot better and last a lot longer.

I'll try that trick too.

Check your choke cable hasn't bound up, like if the housing end caps aren't seated properly. Also, when it's flooded, keep the throttle open all the way until it starts and blows out all the unburnt fuel.
