you can pull the tank and replace it that way, being carefull when reinstalling tank

i cheated and sucked the oil out

then removed the rubber gromet around the glass

i then gently grabed the old glass with rubber glove in channel locks and then replaced with good glass the same way
ridiculous but worked

recommend the removal of tank

its good every now and then to get in there and clean the bottom of tank cavity anyway

Nice trick Jimmy. I agree that you should take the tank out also just for the experience. But now that I've done it quite a few times I like the challenge of "Take out wrenched ankle" (Milton Bradley's Operation) Razz emoticon

i think i was more put off by having to disconnect the hoses as well

pull carb lid
disco hoses
unbolt tank
pull tank out competely
glass
put it all back

so i thought i would try it another way, oil was only just showing in old glass

put a 4x4 under the stand and wala, no oil in glass Nerd emoticon

Tie a light cord onto the tap handle about 4 feet long. Put that through the hole before you start to lower the tank(s) down. Use the cord to guide the tap handle through the hole as you slip the tanks down. Easy.

i never found it hard to get the tap back through, hat i always thought was a bitch was getting the sight gless down that last 2 or 3 inches. it always rubs against the body and makes it hard to get back in. i'be tried wrapping it with electrical tape, etc. but i still haven't found an 'easy' way to do it.

I'm glad I don't have the sight glass. they break so easy it's rediculous. When I worked at Genuine Scooters we warrantied at LEAST 3 everyday for the Stella. People crack them kicking with their heels. I would just remove the damn thing altogether and keep it filled.
