Modern Vespa

Had the 500 out yesterday to do errands and get a charge on the battery.
Stopped for gas. Filled up, pulled away and 20-30 feet, "click!" and the engine quit. Stopped, hit the starter, and started no problem. Rode home after errands.

1-2 hours later, started the bike, turned the throttle, and "click!". She quit without even leaving the curb. Front suspension remained locked. and the bike just sat there. No unusual warning lights or anything. Hit the starter again, started fine. Drove off without further problems.

The click is very pronounced.

Anyone else have this happen? Any ideas?

I have had my engine cut out on me before it warmed up, after I let up on the throttle. It has happened a couple of times. I don't recall any destinct click sound.
Did yours happen when you let up on the throttle? It could be the clutch disengaging if you did. Don't know what else.

No, was rolling throttle on, nothing else.

Have you left the throttle alone until the headlight come on and the engine is 'happy' (normally 2-4 seconds)? I've had the same thing happen to me occasionally if I've tried to twist the throttle straight away.

Worth a shot. Could be I am taking off too fast. I will test that theory.
