Yesterday my brake pedal went to the floor. It still works, but it has to go right to the floor. This happened suddenly. Has the cable come loose and need adjusting?

Thanks

Sounds like it either needs major adjustment or it is about to break. Sometimes cables will begin to fray and stretch before the break. I would check it out right away.

i know there were a term of 'push the pedal to the metal" but in ur case its not as cool as that, u need to check or even change the brake cable as its indicate either its loosen or a inch close to snap it self Razz emoticon

Its the easiest cable to change in my opinion. Undo it on the engine side - then unbolt the pedal. Pull the old inner cable out and pull it off the pedal. Reverse the steps for installation. Its not trick at all. Make sure the oterh part of the cable is in good shape - and lube the inner on install and your good to go.

So, the cable seems to be pulling the arm on the back as forward as it will go when the pedal is pushed, but there is no resistance. Is it possible something is wrong with the back brake? Is there something inside that may have come loose?

i did'nt tighten the clasp on the pedal end tight enough

thats funny, it was new, just not tight Razz emoticon

I think your problem may be slightly different. I dropped the pedal and everything looks connected fine. The pedal is going right to the floor pulling the cable, which results in pulling the brake arm all the way forward with no resistance from the brakes.

Is it possible a spring or something inside the brake area has given up??

Is the rear hub-bolt 22MM and a real pita to undo? What would have been screwed up inside to cause this?
