So I managed to successfully replace the stand on Liz today .
What idiot thought it would be a good idea to put a hollow metal tube with flanged ends in such a crucial place ? I only noticed yesterday that the end of the tube was nearly cut off due to the constant putting the bike on the stand. This had resulted in an almost tipping wiggle while the scooter was on the stand (there has always been a little bit of unstableness, but I'd never checked it out :opps:). Also the left hole in the actual stand part that the hollow tube went through was more of an oval, which should probably be expected due to how old she is.
I took it to a mechanic who luckily had a second hand stand in pretty good condition and he fashioned up a replacement to the tube welding a very sturdy washer to a thick bolt. Now she's very stable on the stand.
