I specifically remember the first Craig's List posting say that he was in Dublin. This one says Hayward/Castro Valley; however, the picture looks exactly the same to me as the first one. It even lists the engine as 1978. Both listings also did not use much if any punctuation or capitalization. I think it's the same guy and same engine. Don't know if it's RedCatJacket's or not. I suspect something's a foot, and RedCatJacket is having to wait until maybe the authorities deal with it or something else. I guess we will just have to be patient.

I'm nearly certain this is the same poster and engine, as the ad has the same tone and language as the previous one, dissing some "other guy who didnt get the deal." The photo also seems to be the same as the one from last time.

The difference is that he now knows that folks are interested in the serial number. If it doesn't have one, the number was probably filed off recently, which should be easy to see but would make it hard now to provide ownership.

Did your ralley have a silver air box cover? I'm not sure what the ralley's came with. And what about the brand of tire.

Dublin is a residential suburb that is on one side of a large hill and Hayward/Castro Valley are more urbanized residential suburbs are on the other side. They are essentially neighboring towns with a large hill between them and a freeway that connects them. They are very different towns and socio-economically.

All that said, you could easily say you are in one town and meet buyers in the other town. Using the different towns in your advertisement would draw different buyers and allow for different prices.

for the UK readers.. a suburb is a "suburban" residential community that people live in. Many suburb residents commute to the urban cities and work areas nearby for work... in this case Oakland and San Francisco as well as the "Silicon Valley" area of California.

funny, I was just going to post that here. I'd say the thing to do is go check it out in person and look to see if the number stamp area has been tampered with without looking too obvious. There may be other identifying features.

I don't know about the police in the south bay but the cops in SF can't seem to be bothered with finding stolen vehicles, you pretty much have to be your own detective. If it turns out to be the guys parts, he'll have to be prepared to prove it and call the cops right away.
