Is it Al on the forum here to keeps saying that most of the problems on vintage bikes are caused by the need of the owner to constantly tinker?
It started with a gas leak. I thought my float was sticking, so I took out the new Dellorto float and red tipped needle I installed when I rebuilt the carb, and replaced with the original float and black tipped. Come to find out that wasn't the problem, I just didn't have the screws tight enough on the carb. Problem solved.
Last night, I went to fix the choke cable that was sticking. So I opened up the carb box again to unhook choke cable and see where the sticking was at. Fixed that problem and thought...I should put the new float and needle back in.
Long story short, I had the entire carb out looking for a seal I dropped behind the carb, in the box.
My wife believes I am making up these problems just so I can pull stuff out and put it back.
It's very rewarding to know a machine like this inside and out. I like having the confidence to just pull stuff out and put it back.
That did get long, sorry.
