I am at my wits end. I pay all my monthly bills on line without a hitch, except for one; Fairpoint Communications, my phone provider.

Whenever I try to access the Pay Bill page, I get a system timeout error. It absolutely will not work. I have updated all my software, run registry checks, even updated to IE 8, all to no avail.

Fairpoint has not responded to my emails and their telephone support is just a method of passing the buck to another department that knows nothing.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

BTW, Fairpoint Communications is a company that bought the New England Area landline service from Verizon. They have earned a reputation for poor service since the transition. My only complaint is not being able to pay on line.

That's not a computer problem- that's a company problem.

Go to old style and pay at the bank or send checks.
I kinda think it would be handy to have a paper trail for them.

And yes, I've heard of their customer service problems, although I'm in a different country

Do you have them set up as a payee on online banking or are you going to their site to pay?

I go to their site, as I do with all my bills.

Ah ok, just wanted to be sure. Does your bank offer online bill pay? I couldn't function without it. Go to one place and pay all my bills. Some I even set up to go automatically...like car payments. Just a thought. Good luck.

I had the same problem a while back with another site. Is your date and time set correctly on your computer? This solved the problem for me on a bank site. I'm not sure why, but some websites don't work correctly if it's not set correctly.

DERRY - FairPoint will take another two months to develop a clear plan to solve the sweeping customer issues that are helping drag the company down, even as it works to convince debt-holders to accept new terms in an attempt to avoid Chapter 11 bankruptcy next month."
