if you mean do you need to put the expander bolts all the way down into the mounting points on the headset - yes you do. the windscreen will work itself loose if you don't.

Thank you for answering rapidly.
My plasic tubes will not go all way in, I try to push on the "brackets" in intention to geth them all the way in, but no, they just not do that. I can see that the part of the tubes that not goes in are the expandable part. And It seems that the rest of the bolt hit the back end of the metal tube, I could not geth them further. And yes I understand that If the expandable part not goes in the tube the windscreen will work itself loose. |

it sounds like you may not have the correct fittings for the scooter - they are model specific. are you absolutely sure it's a screen for the LX?
if it is, then you may find some help in this thread: Vespa GT Faco Mid-Size Flyscreen Installation if that thread (and the ones it links to) aren't helpful, try a search under 'expander bolts' |

You need to make sure that they have not been tightened before they are inserted in the holes. They may possibly have been tightened at the factory. Check the bolts to see if they are loose or tight................if they're tight, loosen them and then see if they will insert into the holes.

Danny's photos are correct. Also, in some cases, the flat washer is just a hair too big to fit into the headset. In this case, you can simply file or grind the washer down to the diameter of the adjacent cone.

Thank's for all the answers!
The pictures danny*h shows of the plastic tubes are exaktly equal as the tubes that I mean. The tube should expande at the ends, but my tube:s could not do that because the outer end of the tube will not fit into the headset. The rest of the plastic tube fit in the headset, no problem with that, that's just the outer end that's not fitting I understand that the bolts should not be tightened before they are inserted in the holes. It seems that the plastic tubes and rest of the bracket part are to long for the headset. And yes, I know that windshields are model specific, my windshield are for my GTS 300ie |

I also installed my windshield today. I have a 300 too. I had to tap (moderately hard) that part into the handle bar. Have not yet tested it out yet but it seems solid once I tightened it down. I used these instructions http://www.scooterworks.com/images/pdf/lx_ws_instructions.pdf
They are not the best but if you look at them a while it makes sense. |
