I agree.
What a bunch of pussies stealing a scoot. Once caught, they should be hung by their fucking toenails. |

So, what's the latest? I posted that shady "1978 Rally" engine for sale on craigslist for RedCat to sniff out and destroy. Any word?

I bet that bike is within a square mile of the pruneyard.
most likely behind taco bravo or the bbq joint across the street... when my P was stolen, it ended up behind a shopping mall a mile away. All beat to shit and not running but only a mile away. i live close so I am cruising the neighborhoods on my bike and looking in yards and open garages..... |

Has anyone tried using a GPS tracking device?
Here's a DYI one - http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2005/10/diy_gps_tracking_with_mol.html $50/month is kinda steep, but I'm sure you can get a cheaper phone & data plan. Maybe use it on a decoy (bodge) and track these suckers down. |

I had a dream last night.
No lie, this is what I dreamt:
JimmyB865, RedCatJack, Rover Eric (none of whom I have ever met before) and I loaded up in a pick-up truck and went up to Dublin to meet the dubious seller of "1978 Rally" parts. RedCat checked for and verified the matching numbers on the engine and the frame (hidden in the guy's side yard) and we all went to work. RedCat and Jimmy punched him in the neck while me and Eric loaded up the Rally parts - all of which were present - and took off for Campbell. Not that this guys is the thief or even doing something illegal or "bad" but that's the dream I had. |

Now you got me worried...
Great. I havent even got the Rally restore back on the road yet and now Im really paranoid. Reason is, since I had it converted to 12volt with no battery, the ignition key doesnt do anything any more. (its in the hole till I got a grommet for it).
NOW I have to figure out how to wire it up so it wont start without the key, which means the damn tank has to come back off to get to the wiring.. I guess its better to have read this before it got lifted.. Im sorry some dickcheese stole your scooter.. If the one I have put hundreds of hours into restoring gets boosted, I'll lose it. Going shopping now for a case hardened lock of some sort till I get the gumption to re-wire the switch back in. Rick |

every time this thread shows back up, i always hope that someone found the bike. it would be better if it was a punk kid joyriding than a real scooterist looking to strip it for parts.

This original thread was linked from the modern side, which is where the original craigslist post I linked, was linked to. That is also the engine which apparently inspired my dream last night.

It's also curious that nobody seems to be either checking this shizz out or getting worked up about a stolen bike possibly being parted out to the nefarious public. WTF?!

Let's get one thing straight. I hate fucking thieves and sarcastic assholes.
I feel so bad for the owner of the rally and the fact that it's probably being parted out by the guy that has all the rally parts and by the way, no numbers on the engine. That smells of thievery. So I send the guy an email that I am looking for a motor. He sends me back a somewhat sarcastic response:" lets start with a phone number and best time to call ! yes it still for sale you drive from san dego ill knock $100 off". First of all I might not want to to give sarcastic fuckface my phone number, but he sent me another sarcastic email and I gave him my number, so lets see what this guy is all about. |

This is the guys email. davidsilver87@yahoo.com it looks like his name is David Silver, it might be the guy or a legit seller, but I can assure you I have sold engines in the past and never ones without numbers.

Check with redcat before you do something, because from this thread (https://modernvespa.com/forum/topic53507?postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=40) and BleuBelle's post, it looks like he's already working w/ the authorities on the CL poster.
Hate to see their work go to waste if the poster catches on. |

psft is correct
i am sure redcat is on it we are all frustrated at the notion that the frikkin bike is being disected in front of our eyes and we can't stop it that seat is the same as his by the way, it really makes me think that the cl poster is tied in with the theft thats let redcat and the authorities do there thing i don't want to pm him but maybe someone else in his area or maybe eric or another mod can inquire for us any mods agree ![]() |
