Hope it's ok to ask about a Piaggio. I'm looking at a 2003 LT150 with 6,xxx miles. It's in nice shape but I have two possible issues.

The front forks have a lot of stiction. In other words, I think that they are too stiff. Any known issues here?

There is a slight shudder that seems to happen at about the same time the cvt would be hooking up 100%. Normal?

Thanks,
Bill

Aloha and welcome to the forum. I have a LT and it has 4000+ miles and it is the most solid scooter i've had. Way less 'quirks" than my LX. What do you know about the maintenance on the scooter? Has it been in an accident? How is your tire pressure? I find that on the LT i can tell immediately if i don't have enough air since it will be softer and have more spring in the front. Not a mechanic but it does ride stiffer than my LX. Possibly the wheel size. Others will have to chime in on the CVT. Mine has been in a bad accident where it sat lost for 2 months at a tow yard on it;s side. When it was finally found he started right up Got 6 years out of the battery also. Hope this helps. Mine is BRG.

Thanks for your reply. I haven't pulled the trigger on this scoot yet. Still doing some research. This LT is also BRG. Very nice looking. Don't think it has been wrecked. No obvious signs.

How about tires? Are they available in this size?

Thanks Again,
Bill

Yes and i'm sure motorsportscooters has them. I still have the original ones If you can get a good deal go for it. The LT is a solid scooter. It rides different than the LX series since it has bigger tires but it's a workhorse. I have to be careful when i haven't ridden it in a while. It has a lot more take off power than the LX and i've had the front wheel way off the ground on more than one occasion Good luck

$1500 sound like a reasonable price? The clock doesn't work. I understand that is common.

Thanks,
Bill

Sounds a little high I paid about that and i had 1800 miles on mine. However if the seller can produce evidence that all the proper maintenance has been done and you get both keys blue&red(rust) one go for it. If they haven't done all the maintenance i would try and get them down a bit. If you go with cash in hand see if you can bargain a little anyway. You never know since all they can say is no. I've found the LT to be forgiving and a much more "sound" scooter than the LX when it comes to performance so i wouldn't worry . Oh and the clock stopped on mine also. Real PIA to replace the battery. I still have the one i thought i was going to replace 2 yrs ago Not worth the effort. Hope this helps.

Thanks Judy, Can you tell me more about the two keys? I think they only have one.

Two keys come with the scooter. Blue to use every day and a red/brown/rust colored one that you MUST have. This key is for the CDI unit/immobilizer unit that is the brains of your scooter. It helps with diagnostics and other things. There will be a red blinking light on the instrument cluster and this key is tied in with that. If they don't have it it will cost about $500 for a new unit with key. You keep that one in a safe place and only use it in emergencies since if lost it will cost you. If they have that one but not the blue i'd have them take off at least $100 to get a new blue key. That's way more than it will cost but you'll have to get it done and time==money. Hope this helps

Thanks, Judy. Sounds like I need to check into this. I think they told me the scoot only has one key. And the one I saw was blue.

Thanks,
Bill
