This may seem like a silly question but does the GTS 300 Super have the lockable front storage compartment? It is just a handy little feature to have for registration, insurance, sunglasses, etc?

I am a newbie to the Vespa world and really want to get one!

Thanks for your help!

Why yes, it does. The space gets a little warm, but it's enough for some tools, patch kit, registration, parking passes, etc. No coffee holder though! Crying or Very sad emoticon

Don't know how safe it it to drink coffee while driving a Vespa! But coffee in my book is an essential!

Thanks for your replies!

Oh I have one more question the GTS 300 Super is an automatic correct? So how would you shift it up and down for the motorcycle drivers test?

Just note that the glovebox on Vespas is never waterproof! Fairly water resistant, though. I keep my insurance and registration in my glovebox, but I have them sealed in a plastic sandwich baggie. All of the modern Vespas have the glovebox except the S.

Funny I don't see any lock on the door in this pic.Am I blind?

Also if the compartment isn't waterproof,is there drain holes then?

Thanks.

Good point about the drain holes. You can't see the lock on any of the models.

all GT's have the same glove box - can get a few drips of water in it, nothing serious, it opens by pressing in the black circle around the ignition key. One of the best gloveboxes around for a scoot !! you don't have take the key out to unlock and open - put a frozen juice carton in it and take sips from it as it melts !!

Yes the GTS Super has a lockable, water resistant glovebox. I personally don't keep important paperwork in it and feel safer keeping it in my wallet.

I agree!

Actually most cops will tell you that it's foolish to keep registration info in your vehicle vs your wallet. Should anyone steal the vehicle, or just break into the glovebox or underseat storage, they now have your address. Handy for identity theft or just plain burglary of your home. Additionally, they can claim that you signed the vehicle over to them. Carry it on your person at all times. Additionally, I don't keep the originals on me, I photocopy the registration and keep a copy in my wallet. Most states permit this.
The original stays home in a locked fireproof box along with my backup insurance card. You are only required to present these to a law enforcement officer upon request, so it's not as if it's illegal to keep it anyplace other than the vehicle itself.

I do the same thing, I keep only photocopies of registration and insurance in my wallet and keep the originals at home in a safe place. That way if you wallet is stolen they don't get my originals either.

You don't see the lock, because you press the key to the ignition and that is what opens the door.

and the piece of metal on the back of the lid is there because with the et4 nasty people would just kick in the glovebox and steal your stuff.

Thank you everyone for your input. Good point on not keeping it in the vehicle.
