I have never used my helmet lock
on my scooter as i've never left it
alone before this sunday. having rode
out with friends about 20 miles to a
local beauty spot down by the river
severn, and wanting to have a drink
at the local bar (pepsi) it was only a
short walk away, so i decided to leave
my helmet on the under seat lock as
it does not fit under the seat it's self.
only to find i have no 'D' rings on the
strap!!! I ended up chaining it to the
front wheel and on my return some
idiot had kicked it over and scratched
it all down one side. Has anyone got
any other solutions apart from carrying
it around with me?

I set the strap with the hook end inside the pet carrier and close the lid. The helmet hangs nicely along the front side of the cowl. I haven't tried, but I doubt it could be pulled out. It keeps the honest folks honest!

Sorry to hear about the vandalism.

There's an ongoing discussion here about helmet storage on bike: Helmet hook extender

I usually put mine in my top case. It's easy, convenient and I believe in the "out of sight, out of mind" approach to preventing theft. Don't know what to advise without a top case. Sorry!

I threaded a keyring through the strap and use that instead of a D ring.

Don't have my helmet here at the office, but as far as I can remember, I just found a place on the strap that would take the keyring. It's been there for over three years, so works pretty well. I'll see if I can take a pic later.

I tried the T-bar thingy but the holes in it were way too small for the pegs.

I just carry mine, because it's a real tight fit to use the D rings. My helmet came with a bag with a strap. I put the strap across my torso and put the helmet behind me. It has worked well so far at the grocery store and mall. Being a chick, I also have a purse. The purse goes across my torso as well, but on the other shoulder. My husband says that I should get a bandoleer I wouldn't want to fall on it in an accident Crying or Very sad emoticon

Hi there 1969lambretta
I have a Nolan N102 and it has the ratchet strap and no d-rings at all. So this is what I did.

https://modernvespa.com/forum/topic34305?highlight=

as you can see tried to make my own extender type solution, it might work on your Lamy.. but on the LX it was just too difficult to work as a daily solution. I do use the cable loop, every time I leave the helmet, but most times I carry it with, put the strap together and use it as a handle.

I remembered reading this wisdom when we went into town on the scooter this weekend. I vandalised a couple of bunches of keys and now mine and my wife's accident hats can hang on the hook. It's only a tiny thing but it's a genuine improvement, now when wifey and I go somewhere together on the scoot one of us doesn't end up carrying an accident hat (clue: I was raised a gentleman, so I carry the helmet - without fail Laughing emoticon )

The point of this ramble was just thanks, Cricket. A useful seed was planted in a messy mind
