i have checked wiring at module,ignition switch & antenna everything checks good according to manual. today i ordered #584701 module $248 including taxes & it is mine no return. i don't know of anyone in states who will accept return on electrical parts, you are so fortunate to be able to return in UK. if it doesn't fix it i'll have an expensive spare. thanks for all info. i will repost if & when i get in going right.

OK - just remember not to program it until you are *sure* it is the solution. Unprogrammed you should get most of your money back when another MV member needs one.

jimc, when i get my module can i start it several times unprogramed & run up to 2000 rpm without damaging anything? i would like to be sure before i do program it.programming according to manual , master key , service & back to master is this correct? when i ordered this parts person told me i needed new keys & locks he said they are programed together & told me he had keys in stock but had to order module i asked how they could be programed if he had keys & not module that doesn't make sense. i didn't buy keys yet i can get later if i need but don't think i will.

You can start it unprogrammed any number of times you like with the service key. Keep the master key well away from it until you are ready to program it though!

He's talking bollocks saying you need new keys as well. That's only if you have lost one of the original keys. How's the CDI going to know if your current keys are old or new? It can't.

jimc , i recieved my new module today & installed it , started it runs maybe 2000 rpm like manual states. turned off & led starts blimking with key off i assume for the 48 hours & should turn off. i didn't think it would have blinked the security without being programed. i want to let it time out a few times before i attempt to program. my old module has worked good last couple times but is very undependable. thanks nelson ps. any advice appreciated.

As your problem was 'intermittent' your caution is well advised - your patience is fantastic.

jimc, just wanted to let you know i have been starting & letting time out on new module & seems to work good. i programmed it & it runs well, hope no other problems develop. before this i put old module back in & left the antenna unpluged & it gave a code, it was so undependable & no codes. the new one programmed so easy with master &service key it was suprising, no more than 10 seconds it was done. do you work on scooters & motorcycle as a job or hobby? i'm 69 years of age & still love to ride & have always done all my repairs, starting back in the 50's on the cruisaire the sears vespa. thank you very much for all your input. nelson richard

i need to report back started scooter many days & timeouts, after installing new module & programming ran short time left me on road, my intermiting problem come on long enough to find it was the remote control switch or relay #58002r located next to horn under front panel. i took connector off bent terminals to tighten them & work good since. i have a spare module now. wanted to share this with you may help someday.

I did wonder if it was 'something else', hence all the cautions to leave unprogrammed as long as possible. But hey, it's all working, so that's good!
