I just bought a new GTS 300 Super in black, but my insurance company says that based on the VIN, its a 250. Can someone help me confirm?

I want to make sure it is EXACTLY what I paid for.
Thanks

You should have an emission label (mine is inside my glove box on the left) and it tells the exact engine displacement.

I haven't taken receipt of it yet. I'm still in the process of purchasing it. I gave a deposit today so I could get the insurance and paperwork done.

I don't know what this means, but according to the information in the MV wiki it is a 250:
https://modernvespa.com/forum/wiki-vin-decoding There were some 250 gts supers that were labeled as 300 supers. This post talks about it : What happens to those Super 300 badges A search will tell you if the misbadged supers had analog or digital speedometers. I'm not sure if there are other differences as well. good luck |

This thread talks about somebody who got a GTS labelled as a 300 but it turned out to be a 250 :
White GTS 250 looks like a 300 Again, this doesn't mean that yours is a 250, but it's probably a good idea to find out what the VIN prefix for a US spec 300 is. Perhaps somebody with a 300 who can check will be along shortly.... |

It is a 300 and a 2010. If it was the rarer 250 Super the 10th vin digit would be a (9) and not an (A) because all of the 250 Supers were 2009 models. The (A) stipulates the bike is a 2010.
The 2010 300 Super and 2009 250 Super look identical except for the digital dash on the 250. ![]() 250 Super Dash

All this 250/300 talk reminds me o a conversation I had with the dealer. I was shopping for a scoot and they had just gotten the 300 in stock but they knew it was a 250. He basically said it was a marketing thing while they got the 300's California CARB Emissions tests certified. i don't know if it's the truth or I heard it correctly...but it is still an interesting comment.
I wonder if the majority of the mis-badges ended up in California as it is the strictest emissions state in the union? |

Thank you SOOO MUCH for the help. I also wanted to confirm that the dash was the analog, so it is indeed a 300. Whew! Thanks again.
