So there isnt really a real purpose to this post other than to publicly appologize for years of making fun of people on scooters (vespas in particular) by calling them sissies for not riding a real bike....Ive been riding motorcycles for years and have recently been spending all of my time on my 09 Ducati Superbike which I absolutely love....my girlfriend on the other hand isnt a fan of anything that can do 180 mph and cried everytime i went out on the bike thinking i was going to die....so to ease her worries I bought her the new pink vespa lx 150....holy shit this thing is fun....first of all the fact that it is pink is simply amazing....and second of all, while the thing isnt that fast and doesnt have a fast accelleration it is an abslute blast to ride....i brought it home last night and the first thing i did was take it out on a twisty highway....i got it up to an indicated 65 or so and whats great is i can pin the throttle down the entire time....i must look pretty rediculous on it because I ride it the way i would a track bike (anyone ever tried to get their knee down on a vespa? lol)....anyways, I completely take back everything I ever said or thought about vespas or the people who ride them....I cant wait to get off work so I can whip this pink bitch around manhattan....god I love my vespa

Now you see why I never took my Volusia out of the garage after I got my first scooter.
It's since been sold. |

There are a lot of scooter riders (myself included) who have owned faster, sportier bikes and spent time at the track. I think for most people it just comes down to a love of 2 wheeled transportation. Each type of bike serves a purpose and doesn't necessarily reflect a person's level of "sissiness" (although in some cases it might!). Sure a crotch rocket looks more aggressive on the road compared to someone sitting up straight and proper on a little scoot, but you never know who's behind the helmet.
Let us know if you get a knee down without grinding the Vespa floor boards first ![]() |

Whoa, you said you bought the Vespa for your girlfriend, now you refer to it as 'your Vespa'? ... typical!
Have fun. |

It takes a real man to so he was wrong and that he's sorry.
I know because I do it often. So for the previous post I salute you. You certainly have my respect articulating your miscaluation. I've been on all sizes of PTW's for 27 years and I've never had so much fun as I have in the last 7 years riding Vespa's. Size isn't everything. Bill |

I used to ride panhead Harleys, back in the day. Sometimes it just takes a while to grow up and be a kid again. Glad to have you, son.

Funny, you sound like so many of the riders over at ADVRider.com in their Battle Scooters (If your secure in your Manhood) forum. Many of the riders (guys mostly) have really nice looking and exceedingly capable dirt and street bikes with displacements 3-10 higher than most of the riders here. They get on a scoot and remember why they ride and can't get enough of the storage under the seats and the general "usefulness" of a scoot.
Many of the riders in the forum started riding the scoot more often than the big shiny/dirty bikes in-town and wonder why they didn't do this before. |

Hee hee... I read this and laugh, thinking of all the times when people do tell me to get a big motorcycle.
![]() Now you know why we laugh when we hear that. Props for being man enough to ride a pink scooter! I'll ride a scooter and wear pink gear, but even I won't ride a pink scooter. |

Welcome to MV!
You might enjoy scooter racing on the lil' pink LX 150 (which would probably be secretly kitted to 190cc, I bet!). Random images found on Google Image Search: ![]() ![]() |

Be careful. It's quite easy to grab the centerstand on the twisties due to poor suspension on most scooters when pushed hard. Don't ask me how I know.

aloha and welcome. Show us a pic of that new scooter of yours. Have fun and ride safe. You have a big scooter community/club in NYC. They meet at the brass monkey i think on Wednesdays but someone from there should chime in shortly.
