- A "polite" message on a motorcycle in the San Antonio area is not meant to be confused with "police." But Gary Grimes said some people see it that way and drive more cautiously. Grimes rides his white motorcycle about 25 miles from Poteet to the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he teaches staff how to be better supervisors.

Grimes bought the vehicle two years ago and noticed the style was similar to San Antonio police motorcycles.

Grimes told KENS-TV that he had decals saying "polite" made and put them on his bike. A closer look shows the word "be" is also part of what a driver ahead of him would see by looking into the rear view mirror.

Grimes said he just tries "to be nice to everyone."

"Impersonating a Police Officer" is how using the word Polite like that is viewed here. Sadly.

I get stopped about twice a year for using black and white checkered tape on my white helmet. Never any adverse comment though, I suspect they secretly agree that making cagers think twice is not such a bad idea.

very cool, just like that person that had a mustang built to mimic the one used in the movie Transformers.

For us you cant have the same color combinations or decals and you cant have flashing lights on the car.

Interesting! Watching lots of BBC mysteries the thought has crossed my mind to kit out our Ford Focus as a London Metro police vehicle. No one here would think it's a cop car since the US Police tend to drive Crown Victorias and other huge caddy-type cars and not tiny Focus-type vehicles!

I don't think it would be the OP, since he lives in Georgia and they are talking about San Antonio TX. But since next year's Amerivespa rally is there, perhaps we'll see the nice 'polite' gent. LOL

Haven't seen him around. Although the message is good, it sounds kinda goofy to me. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets harrased by people slowing down because they think he is a cop and then realizing he's not. I was going to post a picture of him I saw on a local site, but can't find it now.
