If I perform my own service on my LX150 (other than the first service) void my warranty? For example, removing a rear tire, have a new one mounted and replacing the tire back on the scooter myself.

Depends on where in the world you are, and what sort of 'service' you perform.
Replacing consumables such as tyres or brake pads or lamps does not void warranty anywhere. If you buy your own diagnostic unit (almost impossible) then other services could be done in the UK by yourself. As you are in the US (it would help if you stated that for those who can't see your IP address) other laws come into play - which may explain why you get only a one-year warranty as standard, whereas we get a statutory minimum of two years (and that extends to six in some circumstances). |

Yes, I was referring to routine maintenance and consumables. Is that information available in writing anywhere?
Thank you for the fast response, jimc. |

If you keep receipts and any other evidence (packaging etc) of the bits you replace, then in the USA I understand you can do all your own servicing. However there may be complications proving a warranty claim if you don't get these 'ticked' by a dealer at the appropriate mileages/times. So my advice is for the first year get them to do the engine oil/filter changes (and nothing else) - this allows them to enter the service in the Piaggio database so that it will be recognised for warranty anywhere else. Plus giving them a bit of income helps them stay in business so they will be there if you *really* need them - and you might.

Vincent. You should have recieved two books when you purchased your scooter. One is the owners manual, the other is the warranty booklet. Both contain information regarding the Piaggio warranty. Off the top of my head I don't think a self-service will void it. However, as my second wife used to enjoy pointing out, I've been wrong before.

I have no problem going in for service when needed. I do not claim to be an expert. Last visit was for a belt/roller inspection - the tech allowed me to watch the procedure and showed me what was required when actually time for replacement- much appreciated.

Forget the warranty booklet - here it is now just thown away as surplus to requirements. As long as the service is entered in the database you are good for warranty.

20,000km / 12,500 miles. Ignore the intermediate oil/pad *checks* as you do this at more frequent intervals anyway. Some of the service items are there just to cover for the numpties who never even check their tyre pressures.
