Beautiful! Is that flyscreen stock? I love the throttle grip!
Ahh, you bought the flyscreen for your LX125 so it must have been transplanted to your new scoot... edit: to answer my own question. |

Yeah traded it in on her and kept the flyscreen, side stand (new models have skimped on that) I also kept the top case and rack. Got quoted $200 to respray the plum colored box to match the Volcano black.

Ouch that is a lot for just a top case... probably most of that is the labor to get it ready to paint...
Can we get some shots of the engine... as in from through the under seat, and from the exhaust side, just to compare... |

Yeah I Guess, but its alot cheaper than buying a whole new rack and box. I find Vespa accessories are way over the top with pricing.

Wow that is a very clean engine... I like it!!
![]() ![]() I see they put an exhaust sensor on the pipe, but way out along the pipe, and not on the manifold elbow like it is on the GTS250. ![]() I can't wait till they start shipping them to the states... I am going to be hard pressed not to get one... Thanks for all the pictures!! Please keep track of you miles per gallon, or even kilos per liter if that is how you guys measure things, I will convert. I am really interested to see if the FI brings the gas mileage up into the 80's or 90's... |

Ive noticed there isnt as much soot around the exhaust outlet and she doesnt stink out the garage like my previous LX. Havent filled up since i got her, shes done 160km and the guage is just under half a tank, if that helps.

Just another thing Ive picked up on. The throttle grip is slightly larger than my old LX. Reserve light is just starting to flicker on 220km.

Wow, I had no idea that an LX150IE existed! So cool! Love the tiny touch-ups - chrome horn cover grill, etc. Looks great!
For my own edification, are only the 2009 and on fuel injected? Are the S150s also fuel injected (S150ie)? |

This scoot is so sweet. When do they come out in the states? How come we get all the cool stuff late??

I'd so love to replace my LX 150 with an LX 150ie. Thanks for the photos of the changes in the exhaust system and engine bay. I like that you mentioned the better throttle response, that is what I was hoping for. Would you say that it is noticeably quicker from a standstill? Do you find that the topend is better?

The injection just smoothes everything out. It creates this super crisp throttle response, you breathe on the throttle and shes off like a rocket yet the engine is hardly working (it feels electric). I feel very confident moving up to the front of the traffic lights for the quick getaway. The Mechanic at the scooter shop where I bought the scooter from has an LX125 with the Malossi 190 kit and upgear kit. He's played around with the jetting and weights in the variator and seems to be fairly happy with the results. Performance between the two is negligible. |

It's great to hear about how the fuel injection transforms what I consider one of the somewhat weaker points of the LX line up in comparison to the Honda SH 150. The Honda that I test rode has a silky smooth engine like a sewing machine typical of Hondas. When I then jumped on my carb. LX 150, it was night and day. The throttle response had more of a lag and was less linear on the LX and the vibration was much more than I expected as well. My only other wish for the LX series would be that they replace the rear drum with a disc brake, then that would be the perfect small bodied Vespa for me.

I think it would be fun to have a fuel injected 150S with the 190 kit and a good pipe. Nice!
Thanks for the report. |

Another thing I have noticed is that the headlight wont come on (just the park light) until the engine is running. Nice touch and less current draw from the battery on start up.

They must be all going that way with injection now. Now all I'm waiting for is LeoVinci to get their act together and make an exhaust for it.
Ive just had the first 1000km service and shes loosened up a bit. I'm really enjoying the scooter now that I can let it rip some. Pulling onto the freeway is just so easy now and getting up to the speed of the rest of the traffic is effortless. I can easily get her going just over 120km/h (indicated) which is quite a bit more than my old 125. I was originally going to get the 300 but I really like the size of the smaller frame. I'm glad I held off because the power to weight ratio makes this one little ripper of a machine. |

Just an update on how the LX is going.
The exhaust has developed a rattle that is only noticable when hot and light throttle cruising. My dealer has finally convinced the importer that it needs a new exhaust so its on the way. They reckon its just over $1500.00 retail to buy, no wonder they were reluctant to part with one. Lucky its under warranty. It also occasionally (say every 15-20 starts) puffs a bit of smoke on start up, but quickly dissapears. I'm not to bothered as its becoming less frequent now with nearly 2000km and its using zero oil. The dealer said to monitor it and if it becomes more frequent they will probably need to look at valve guide seals or the like. I'm having a ball riding this scoot. the power is exciting and the front end is eager to lift from a standstill if I pull back on the bars a little. I'm averaging approx 230-240km per tank which is much better than my old 125 |

Not a good result.
The new exhaust has been fitted and it still rattles. FFS my dealer is pissed and so am I. There must be a flaw in these new designed exhausts with O2 sensors. The unfortunate part is that there isnt enough of these units around yet for any compaints to be made, so that they can recall all the faulty units. So until there are any more cases of exhaust rattles i'm having to ride around with my tin can of marbles. |

had a rattle on my exhaust once and the culprit was an ever so slightly loose bolt on the exhaust. couldnt move it when bike was stationary but at certain speed the bolt and the washer would get loose and rattle. found out by revving the bike with my mech keeping watch on the exhaust. maybe.

Thanks for your input. All nuts and bolts are secure and tight. Heat shield and surrounding fastenings are all good and tight.
If I rev it on the stand theres no noise only when riding the noise begins. |

Thanks for the info
Well you got me sold on a 150cc IE. I have a 150cc but I would like to go and get lost on my own. I just have to wait until it hits the states.

Got this GPR for my LX150ie. Had to retrofit the 02 sensor stub on to the header pipe. Lovely sounding. Not to loud on the cruise but then has a lovely bark to it under power. Also gave it a boost on the top end.

youve changed youre tyres already ? granted, i dont like the pirelli sl38s either, but did anything happen with them that you just had to change them with the michelin pilot citys so early ? how different are they ?

Had the pirelli and the michelin on my old LX125.
The michelin inspires confidence, where the pirelli makes you have to take it easy in the corners. It would weave all over the road in a straight line. Above 90km/h it would start to wobble thru the whole scooter. The michellin gives a silky smooth ride at any speed and wont break loose doesnt matter how hard I ride. I just couldnt wait to get the pirelis off. |
