We've been meaning to do this for about 5 years, and we finally got around to it. Thought it would be a good reference for folks. It's starts out with shameless plugs for our products, but lots of good information ensues.

That's definitely on our list. Hopefully it will be fewer than 5 years in the making. We have to lure both our friend with the camera and our video editing friend with pizza and beer. We'll see if they take the bait.

I'll take as many requests as you guys can come up with. I can't promise we'll get any of them done, but we'll certainly add them to the list. Tire changes on scooters are pretty brutal. Not the easiest "at home" job I can think of. I hate doing them, even with the machine that helps us change them.

Thank you! Well done. The tying of the rear brake and leaning the scoot is a neat tip.

I watched these videos a few weeks ago before doing my first oil change. Very helpful for a first timer. Still took me 4hrs to do the whole thing after the oil filter wouldn't come out but worked through it.

Very nice video. However, I think you need to check out how my "spokesmodel" promoted the fluids we purchased from you in our 2 part maintenance videos.

You can view the videos here:

Maureen wanted to learn how to do some of the Vespa maintenance. I told her why not make a video to share with other scooter riders who may want to learn as well. She thought it was a great idea. In this video, she demonstrates how to: change the rear tire; change the gear box oil; and change the engine oil. Part 1 shows the tire removal and part 2 shows the reassembly. We had a great time, and I hope you enjoy watching.

P.S. We are about to buy your LX150 Euro Turn Signal Kit. She plans on doing an install video of this too. I'm sure she would be happy to wear your t-shirt in the video if you send her one (Adult size medium). You can PM for the address if you are interested.

That was a great video. Almost like I was standing over your shoulder. Great idea about using a tie-wrap on the rear brake and leaning it against the wall for people who do not have a stand.

Just did mine today. Pretty tight space down there. That gear oil plug is in an awkward spot. Use the empty oil bottle idea but still dribbled a bit. What size nut is on the top of the oil filter? Used a adjustable gripper to tighten today but figure I'll pick up the appropriate wrench for next year.

I found that when reinstalling the filter, a nice firm hand tightening works fine. I've always used the old style filters which doesn't have a nut.

The service manual states the torque is 4-6 (N-m), which is about 4 (lbf-ft). This is not very tight. If you think you can't get a good grip on it, you may want to look into one of those snow flake wrenches. I've seen their ad on MV.

Is there another filter that needs changing?
I remember I got an oil change once and the technician changed a sponge-like filter that was in a plastic housing on the left side of the GTS.

Does this usually get changed with an oil change? It this some kind of air filter?

Nice job Max, it's the little stuff that I find interesting in these videos, like the home made gear oil receptor that Jeff uses. Great idea!
