Modern Vespa

Hi, Everyone,
My wife and I just bought a pair of GT200s off Craigslist in Riverside for $4500. I think that was a good deal. We just got our permits this week. I've been reading a lot of the old posts and gathering info. Sure is a lot of info out there. The white one is a 2006 with 1,100 miles and the green one is a 2005 with 1,700 miles. They are all original and just have a few scratches from tie downs not done properly. Lots of spider webs, too. They run great and came with 3 full face helmets, jumper cables, battery tender and new batteries. They probably need new tires just from age and the fluids changed (already did the oil). I've already downloaded the parts manual and service manual and bookmarked many websites referenced in posts. This forum is great! Roger & Trudi

That's a hell of a deal! Two scooters for the price of one.

There is a handy little tutorial somewhere around here on changing the hub oil. Pretty easy ... I know because I was actually able to follow the instructions and do it myself.

That's a fantastic deal, and what a way to start! Consider taking the Motorcycle foundation course as it waives the need to take the skills test (Assuming that's Riverside CA) and it teaches lots of essential riding skills.

We live in Thousand Oaks about 100 miles north of Riverside, CA.
We showed up with cash and a 5x10 trailer. I test drove them around the block and we closed the deal. They were advertised for $5k.

We're looking into a class.

Anyone - what does the "L" in "GT 200L" stand for?

I asked myself that same question too (seems here in NZ they were also GT "L"s rather than GT's) and after a quick Google search it appears that there appears to be no difference technically between the "standard" GT and the GT "L". In some markets they were badged with the "L" to indicate liquid cooling, but since no GT's were air-cooled that's really a moot point.

I don't think ours is a "diamond" white like that 2006 that was in storage for 2 years. Are there different "white"s that were available? Ours doesn't have a lustre/sheen to it like the one in the pics, but it may just be the pics. Ours just looks like a plain metallic white. Trudi's is the white one. I got the green. We'll get more photos this weekend.
