Has anyone installed a dshad or givi or coocase topcase on their bv500? I am looking for something larger than the piaggio case - need to fit in both ff helmet and some other stuff.

I just bought my 2009 bv after agonizing over the choice between bv and scarabeo. The only thing I liked better on the scarabeo was the underseat space and the warranty - and my local aprilia dealer told me that there was only a 1 yr warranty on it - when I questioned hime he insisted I was wrong. I got the bv for a better price than I had found on thescarabeo. I am short and the bv really did fit me better.

I recently installed the Coocase V36 on a BV250. I'm really happy with it. The larger one (S48) probably would have looked good as well. I was concerned about it being a bit too big for the 250, but I think I was wrong about that. I think the S48 would look great on the BV500.

Here's a quick couple of pics.

Thanks - I was concerned because on another bv thread - someone reported that the non piaggio cases were rattly or not as stable on the bv.

Don't go over a 36 or 37 liter top box on the 500 MYHO. Mine is a BV 500 with a Givi E370 silver. My wife has a 2009 BV 250 with the same box. The 2009 BV 250 and the BV 500's are about the same max width in the rear. If you care about aesthetics the larger boxes make these scoots look like a mushroom from the back. If it's capacity you want the go for the max size - which are the 46 or 47 liter boxes. Have added a picture of our bikes on a recent trip to New Mexico.

Thanks - I am looking for a little larger than the 370 because I need to fit 2 FF helmets. Any opinion on coocase versus givi? I am having a bit of a challenge figuring out all the parts I need to put a givi on a 2009. The coocase seems a little flatter so not quite as odd looking on the back for the larger case.

Also having trouble finding a taller windscreen for the 2009.

The mounting plate you need is the E344 from Givi. The mounting plate is sold separately from the top box (which comes with the plastic base which screws to the mounting plate). I don't have any input for you on the Coocase. The Givi's are of good quality and very durable. All top boxes flex a little on rough roads of bumps since they ride on rubber grommets. I don't think the Piaggio ones are any better than the after market brands. Riding behind my wife I can see a little movement of hers on rough roads. We have checked the bolts for tightness. No problem.

I have the E370 on my BV 500. I'm pleased with ithe way it looks, but you're correct - it does not provide a lot of storage (one FF helmet and not much else). If your primary concern is storage, you'll need something bigger.

I like the combination of scooters you own. I also had a Buddy (Italia) but traded it in to get my Piaggio. The Buddy was a great scooter, but my wife wouldn't ride with me unless I got something bigger.

I installed a Givi V460 on my BV 500. Had it loaded to the nuts many times and never had a problem. There was never an issue with the rack or with handling no matter how much I crammed into it. I thought it looked much better than the smaller cases.

Do a search. Somewhere, i ran into a BV 500 owner who had the largest Coocase (the Coocsase S48) and posted pics. I thought it looked fine, proportionally.

As for Givi vs. Coocase (versus others), I've haven't owned others, excpet for the ultra-cheap Genuine Buddy case for a Genuine Buddy.

I have been totally impressed by the Coocase. The fit and finish seems very good. The interior liner is EXCELLENT. And although I didn't think I would care about or like the remote control, it is all I use -- not the key. Very worthwhile.

So, bottom line, me personally -- from everything I have learned and read about the Shads, Givis, and Coocases, I'd get a COOCASE.

Here are some threads on my mission to get a Coocase for my bike. Carreric helped a bunch. I realize that a lot of the photos of the rack discussion are missing but the two adapter plates are at the end. Hopefully this will help with your install.

My birthday present! Coocase on my BV500
Grrr this topcase situation is frustrating me. (BV500)

My only issue with the case is the contacts that make the electrical connection have died. I need to work on them when I get a chance but for now I have been having to use the key to open the case which makes it like the others. The case is solid and works great I have no other complaints.
