My oil light comes on every now and again with just regular use. It sometimes comes on after a big stop or just on trailing throttle. Sometimes it comes on when idling.
I've checked the oil level several times and it is ok.
Puzzling.
Does this light also warn about pressure or is it simply the level?
Any other thoughts?

Pressure - not level (unless you've completely run out!). Switches can go faulty (check by substitution), and the wiring can cause problems (chafes to ground).

I had this problem with mine. At first it would come on occasionally and then it started not coming on at all.....even with the key on and engine off (which it should be on then). I bought a new one from motorsportscooters and fixed it myself. Easy peasy.

I also have a mettalic clickig sound that rises and falls with the revs.
Most GTS's do this only this is quite loud, I suspect it's the oil pump bearings.

any more thoughts on this or has any one had the same problem.
Juast for the record I've done 23,000kms.

What are oil pump bearings? If it's making noise you need to stop riding it till you figure out if you have oil pressure!!!

It wont be the oil pump bearings, as there isnt really any as such, by the time the oil pump had enough wear to be heard, it wouldnt work enough and the engine would sieze... the tolerance in the oil pump has to be very specific to work.

The noise is most likely a over large valve clearance gap, or a loose camchain...

I think the oil light is something to do with the sensor or wiring, I've suspected this for sometime.
The rattle noise increases and decreases with engine speed. Souns like top end rattle perhaps, certainly not bottom.

I rode another GTS recently and it made a similar sound only much quieter.
