Modern Vespa

At 3716 miles my rear Sava tire was bald so I replaced it today with a Pirelli GTS24. I used the Harbor Freight mini tire changer and the excellent instructions provided by ExonicJay and windbreaker. My thanks to you both.

It was a rainy day here in Georgia so it was perfect for playing in the garage. I had the garage door open so I could hear and smell the rain, very nice. I took my time so I could hopefully avoid creating problems during the process. It went pretty smooth and the rain stopped in time to do a quick test drive before dinner. The Pirelli tire seems stickier than the Sava so I doubt I'll get 3700 miles out of it.

I recommend the Heidenau tire made in Germany, great rain and snow tire, good in dry condictions too.

Yard Sale: I don't think he was asking for tire recommendations, do you? He was telling us about using his HF Mini Tire Changer and THE FACT that he had just installed a new Pirelli tire.

Porsche Joe: I'm just up the road from you in the northern part of Greenville. Although we also got more rain than normal during the last five days, you guys got much more.
Re. the Sava: My wife's GTS only got 2900 miles out of her original Sava and it was about 100 miles overdue when I changed it. Many people have reported that they only got 3k or less on the rear Sava so you did better than most. I have read other riders report that the Pirelli is very sticky and YES, it will probably wear out by 2500 miles but if you ride aggressively, you will appreciate the sticky Pirelli.

Hi XLR8, you're correct; I was not looking for tire recommendations. It's a little late for that when my choice is already installed. Sticky tires on two wheel vehicles are a very good thing. I think I will go through the Pirelli and another rear tire before the front needs replacing. I thought I would try a Michelin Pilot City on the rear when the Pirelli is gone. When the front tire goes I'll replace both with one of these two.
