I want to remove the air filter but have no idea where to find it (I'm a mechanical numbskull). Sadly the manual doesn't seem to help - I went through the English, French, German and Italian sections but couldn't see anything even looking like an air filter. I tried the wiki but couldn't find air filter. I tried searching for air filter on here but folks always speak about just removing the air filter without saying how to. Give up! Any simple instructions.

Here's some instructions from another thread about how to remove the air filter:

1. Lift Seat, remove bucket. Air filter (AF) is the big plastic box on the left side.

2. At the top of the AF are two plastic wing nut type screws.

3. Remove the lower plastic cowling piece (2 screws and three integrated panel push-in rubber grommets)

4. You now have access to the lower half of the AF (6 recessed screws and 1 that's not.)

5. Pull the cover off. The foam filament takes up about 2/3 the space. Indeed, my was soaked in the lower 25%.

6. Remove the foam filament and wring it out. I took it to the sink and cleaned the gunk off with gas.

7. While you're at it you might as well clean the interior of AF housing and cover, mine had bugs and little pieces of grass in it.

8. Also - there was another little filter that I cleaned since the plastic cowl was off, don't know what exactly it was for, but I loosened the two screws, removed the foam filter and blew it out with compressed air.

9. Reinstall everything in reverse order.

Took about 20 minutes total

**If it's saturated with oil, you'll need to clean it with gasoline and let it dry. Then, you need to re-oil it properly so the filter can work properly.

I presume the black plastic bit between the two "bubbles" holds the air housing. I removed the 3 cross head screws that are reccessed into it but it ain't moving - what else do I need to remove? The bubble on the end of the bike is very dark while the other bubble is completely empty - no idea if this is good or bad. What else do I need to remove to get at the filter?

Cheers - I got it out in the end. Must admit it's been awkward fiddling with the bike and trying to use a laptop with mucky hands and a limited Wifi range at the same time. Sadly the air filter wasn't the cause of my problems. My scoot had a hidden bolt, as well as a screw, attaching the removable cowling section - I suppose they have to make them a pain to remove otherwise people would steal them all the time. The design of the spark plug suggests it will never ever get stolen, checked or replaced in the scoots lifetime.
