The company I work for recently purchased a home for a restoration side project. It just so happened that this home had a shop with a bunch of old junk in it. My co-worker and I were cleaning out this shop when I came across a windscreen. I have no idea who made it, or what year it was. Whether this windscreen was designed for an ATV or motorcycle, I do not know. It cleaned up quite nicely without any scratches.
The only issue I had with this screen was how to mount it. I went to our local Ace Hardware store and looked around for inspiration. I then came up with an idea on how to mount it. I used two heavy duty hangers (for chain I suppose) and two steel cable clamps.
Below are the photos of the mount and finished product. I am very happy with this screen. I still plan on remaking the mounting bracket but I will need to have one made. So I suppose the current is temporary.

This screen is very stable on the highway. Overall if I was to describe how this screen works and feels, it is very comparable with all the descriptions given of the Givi screen.

Clever mounting, even some height adjustment. Nice way to save some $$ on a windscreen... That 106% is showing.

Is the hardware stainless or just plated?

Great work Hepworth, your grass seed roots are showing and that is a good thing. Any critic without a positive input is just jealous.

Honestly, I don't know whether it is stainless or plated. I wouldn't be surprised if it is just plated.

Looks like a "universal" type for any bike possibly. Very common years ago. Use to mount brackets on the handlebars that the rods slide into and tightened down with a bolt, like the upper part you have.

I have to say - that is an excellent install. Top marks.

My "Cruiser Windshield Project" mod would seem to be stronger, using the GIVI mounts (and therefore taking advantage of all four mounting screws) but this has the tremendous advantage of being adjustable in height. Beautiful.

Suggestion: if you replaced the cable clamps with a specific clamp (say a rectangular block of aluminum with two main holes, one for the windscreen strut on one end and a larger (looser fitting) hole on the other end to go over the u-hanger, each with a threaded setscrew hole to lock it down onto their respective strut, it seems you would not only be able to adjust height but also rake - something that only the most expensive windshields can do.

In fact, if the cable clamps are normal to the u-hangers (can't tell from the photos) you might be able to adjust rake as-is just by loosening them and dropping them down onto the curved portion of the U. Have you tried that?
If your mod attached only at a single point on either side, instead of using a cable clamp with two screws, the angle of the entire screen could be instantly adjusted.

Excellent idea on the rectangular clamp with the two holes. I think I recall coming across those once upon a time (for extending large gage wire) I had hoped to use all four mounting screws but I could not find the right stuff that fit it correctly. There is a little bit of awkwardness due the the straightness of the windscreens original mount. I've worked it as best as I could with what I had. I've got some thought put into a future bracket that should allow simple height adjustments. Rake is my only issue as of now. I would like it a little more forward and as you suggested, I may be able to drop the clamp down onto the u-portion of the hook. (but that is where the awkwardness of the windscreen mount comes into play, it being straight, while the other is curved. It's just a bit tricky to get a clamp to fit just right). suggestions noted and thanks for those tips.

Great job bub! In actuality it looks like the F1 in many ways - but no "ears".

I really think those ears would come in handy, as this screen does not deflect air away from my hands. It does however put a nice down draft on them. It should help me hang on better. Laughing emoticon j/k

It looks a lot like my F1 does now. It installs in the same 5 holes the Piaggio mini screen uses without a frame. They raise the rake by using spacers in the top holes. I use the standard ones. RexSilver uses the raised ones. Both work fine.
