Spotted this in Laihaina, Maui. I presume it keeps bugs off the speedometer, making it slightly more functional than the MP3/500's flyscreen, while interfering less with accessing hardware.

I suppose that the rider might build up a "Von Neumann Vortex" envelope of stable air using this...at around 200mph...
Man, talk about minimalist! Hard to believe it really accomplishes much of anything, but there must be some compelling reason for it. Maybe the speedo doesn't work well with a breeze-?
