Well team, I've had the scooter for nearly a year now and it's flown by.

1 year ago, I had never driven anything apart from a car. It has been a pleasurable, yet nerve-racking time. The most annoying thing is that I had spent my entire youth and into my 20's telling all and sundry that I was gonna get a scooter. Yet, at the age of 33, I eventually done something about it. (Mid-life crisis?)

So to conclude, thanks to all of those on here who have provided me with advice directly and to the invaluable search tool. I just hope that I can be as helpful to any potential newbies in the future.

Here's to the next year(s)

It's been emotional.

Congrats. Keep riding in good health.

Now that you are experienced, join the London crowd at the Greek Islands Rally next May!

33? Mid life crisis? I didn't get a scooter til I was 41. Now 45. Or nearly there. I fully intend to join the London crowd on the Greek Islands Rally next year, curriculum permitting!

I've been on here lurking for 6 months and finally got around to registering. I am coming up on my 1 year as well. It has been awesome.

Like you, I have wanted a Vespa since high school and finally got my first at 30 years old. I had an old Puch moped, but it wasn't the Vespa I dreamt of owning.

I hope to start getting involved locally and online, learning more from all of you, and continue to ride. I gave my car away to a local charity and chose a new Vespa hoping it would be reliable everyday on my way to work. I'm keeping my eyes open for a vintage Vespa for enjoyment.

It does get a bit cold here in the winter. I need to get a full-face helmet for the winter. I currently have a Fulmer Open Face with a Full Shield. The wind comes right up under the shield to dry out your eyes and freeze your cheeks.

The dealer was very helpful with the Vespa sale, but not so much when it came to getting the "right" helmet.

For now, I'm using Frog Togs that I picked up at Bass Pro Shop for rain gear.
