It is starting to get cold and I am looking into some winter weather gear.

Does anyone use and recommend a battery heated vest etc and gloves?
I don't want wired heated gear for fear of killing the scooters battery.

Firstgear heated gloves, wired off of the battery. Draining the battery is a concern, but it can be managed. I have a 12 mile each way commute from the suburbs dead into the center of Washington, D.C. Early in the trip, when I'm traveling further between lights, traveling faster and waiting less when stopped, the gloves are on to whatever heat setting is comfortable. As I get closer to work and the route gets more congested, I lower the setting, and eventually turn it off. Then, I'll try the reverse commute with the gloves turned off, if possible.

It helps that the Aprilia has a voltmeter in its display, so you can monitor whether the gloves are eating up excess juice, or draining the battery.

I did not have a good experience with Jett. Besides the problems that I had with them, which just makes me mad to fully remember, the vest was cheaply made and the fit did not match what was on their website, and a proper fit is very important for a heated vest. Even if the problems I had occurred with another company, it would have been easier and cheaper dealing with a company with distributorship in the same country as myself vs. Australia(Jett).

I guess I will just have to be the guinea pig with Gerbing's battery powered gloves. I'll be sure to post a review.
