I am new to making adjustments on the 27/23 carbs found on the GS and SS models. I have experience tweaking a 24/24 like on a Rally 200.

My question lies in making adjustments to the throttle stop screw and the slow running adjuster screw. Do you make these adjustments with the carb air box in place or can you do this with out the box in place? I bring this up because these adjustments usually take place while the scooter is running. Will it hurt anything to do this with the air box off?

Adjusting the idle with the airfilter box in place is nearly impossible. It can be done with a small open-end, but doing it with an open carb is no problem as long as you don't drop stuff into the intake, but you knew that.

Thanks. I thought as much but I wanted to make sure it wouldn't affect the adjustments by having the box off. I'll just have to watch that I don't accidently drop small rocks or sand down the venturi.
