it's doable as far as i know but not a simple matter to swap engines between the two. if you're already managing fine and just want an answer to your question, then don't read any further
if not:
the engine and electrical setup differ between leader and pre-leader et4s.
the leader electrical system is different - specifically the ignition, charging, and immobilizer circuits. the CDI controls the choke unit in the leader engine but not in the pre-leader. i can't help you with the stator i'm afraid, we'll have to wait for DougL to turn up.
from greasy125: the leader engine has roller bearings instead of babbit shell bearings supporting the crank, and the design of the engine case is different to accomodate this. the pre-leader carb is a Mikuni, the leader engine uses a Walbro. the oil drain plug is in a different location on the two models. more discussion here
