Linda will be back. She's quit, gone over to the bbs, and returned to MV on at lease three, or four occasions. She's not a victim, she's a grown woman who gets angry from time to time just like the rest of us. She doesn't need victim status.

The reason she'll be back is that MV is like a dysfunctional family. Families may may have quirks, they may disagree, they might get on each other's nerves at times, but a family is still a family.

I'm not mistaking MV for my family, it's just an illustration. But really....where else are you going to go? This is by far still the best forum relating to Vespas on the internet. You can get mad and take a break for a while, but sooner or later, if you are a vespa aficionado, you will be back.
Yes take a break is always better and Linda will be back if she wants, I'm sure. Better than generating drama, anyway.

On the other hand, I don't like it when posters start saying "ban me if you don't like it". Just take five instead.

Please elaborate on how this had anything to do with a "double standard". Be specific, please.

I'll bet you can't.

some people can't live without drama, it's what makes them tick. if none exists, they create it. learn to ignore those kind of people.

There's been some drama free quiet moderation happening. Gypsies and pirates in the night I suspect....or BOT

It's good advice to learn to skip over some topics, or individual posts.

There is another aspect to the drama that plays itself out in online communities. When you find yourself in a community of almost 15,000 people, you will undoubtedly have a small percentage of those members who actually do suffer from some kind of social challenge. Whether it's Aspergers, Tourettes, depression, or a developmental challenge doesn't really matter. We often operate with the assumption that everyone we come in contact with here is exactly like us, which is not always the case.

I'm not claiming that this is what happened with Yardsale, just taking a moment to reflect on how I myself treat others here.

Oh, don't get me wrong ... I don't think of Linda as a victim but rather as a misguided champion of someone she perceives to be the underdog or perhaps a kindred spirit? Linda has her own demons, just as Yardsale does. Both were welcome here and both chose to leave. Yardsale chose to behave the way he did knowing full well what the ramifications would be if he continued his nonsense and Linda chose to believe that "nasty stuff" was going on. It's a shame ... but both have chose their own path out the door.

Neither one of them had the good grace to apologize to Jess for making him repeatedly explain the Karma system. It should be clear to one and all how it works at this point. Even someone with a mental deficiency would get it by now!

If you don't agree with the rules of the forum and can't get on board with the Karma system, then:

(a) Ignore it
(b) Don't use it
(c) Leave
(d) Start your own damned forum and make up whatever rules YOU like!

Otherwise, behave!

Meh, I'm not sure what to think about the whole deal. I would have rather YardSale left on his own, but at the end of the day, I don't actually care. He used to get under my skin with his colorful posts (literally), carriage returns, and seemingly mindless ramblings, but as has been previously mentioned, he became part of the fabric of the General Discussion area. Not so much an integral part - like a seam or a fastener - just one thread of thousands.

That said, I'm glad to see the forum taking a stand against duplicate accounts, as I don't think they have a place on any forum. If YardSale fell victim to his own devices, so be it.

You know this forum is a funny place, in a post I said don't enable a trouble maker, and I was hammered with negative feedback.

Great social construct ramblings on this thread. Sorry that Yardsale and Linda are a part of them in this context...

I've run a non-profit swing dancing event open to ANYONE for over 11 years and tend to be known as one of the 'nicest' and 'most helpful' people that most have met. We average well over 200 people per night and have taught over 60,000 folks in Albuquerque how to dance (of all abilities (and disibilities), social backgrounds, race, age, etc). Yet, I have had to ban a handful of folks over those years who just 'don't get it' either.

Rules and 'understandings' are there for a reason, and the 'lax' ones may be even more important than the 'strict' ones more often than we realize in order for us to exist in whatever our cultural setting is.

Sorry you have had to deal with such messes Jess, but I suspect much good will come of it as forum members learn for themselves from such experiences.

Best to Yardsale - any everyone else here...

As mentioned above - scooters 8)

That's ironic, especially since you wrote this:
"Its really simple people Just be civil and don't post stupid stuff and you won't get negitive feedback. "
